Aishat (Charity) Uzoechina, the 26-year-old daughter of Pastor Raymond Uzoechina, who converted to Islam last year, is set to wed. The Executive Director of Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, Ishaq Akintola, whose organization has kept tab on the convert for months, said Miss Uzoechina is set to marry on May 2. Mr. Akintola, a professor at the Lagos State University, said in a message posted to a discussion forum moderated by MURIC, that Miss Uzoechina would be marrying the lawyer who handled her case after her conversion to Islam became controversial. Bayo Awosanya, a prominent member of the All Progressives Coalition in Ogun State, has gone underground after he allegedly BATTERED his mistress who asked to be identified simply as Victoria. According to the victim and a police source, Mr. Awosanya beat his girlfriend over her failure to join him at a social party over the weekend. The victim, who has a child with her alleged assaulter, told Sahara reporters that she was determined to end the relationship. Our police source said the APC official had asked Victoria to meet him at a “house warming” party, but got uncontrollably furious when he returned from the event and found her still at home. It’s been two weeks since over 200 girls of Government Girls’ Secondary, Chibok, Borno state where abducted by members of the Boko Haram sect. The girls, who were mostly between 16 and 18 years old, had just finished their final school exams when the sect members rounded them up at gunpoint after overpowering a military guard assigned to the school. Erstwhile chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu was once poisoned in the course of his duties as anti-corruption czar, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed. Obasanjo, who spoke at an international forum on 3rd Tana High Level Forum on Security in Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, yesterday, also disclosed that Ribadu created enemies for him because of the ruthlessness with which he carried out his responsibilities of tackling corruption in Nigeria. Obasanjo, who spoke from the floor following a presentation on Illicit Financial Flow and Governance of Natural Resources made by Ribadu, affirmed that he had known from experience that the fight against corruption attracts a lot of enemies.

As political forces begin to align and re-align in preparations for the epic battle in 2015, strong indications have emerged about a fresh battle of supremacy between Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo. The relationship between the two leaders has been replete with mutual suspicion and indifference on the part of President Jonathan, largely because he does not want to take any input from Obasanjo who made him Vice President and helped him become President. Obasanjo’s open letter to the president had been seen as the peak of the cold war. The grand deception heralding the shoddy contract award and flag-off of 2nd Niger Bridge has been exposed, Mr Osita Okechukwu told delegates last Saturday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) Enugu State congress, which held at Enugu.
