RIVERS ASSEMBLY: Assembly approves N10bn Zenith Bank loan for Wike

LEGISREPORTS NG – The Rivers State House of Assembly, has approved the sum of N10 billion Zenith Bank Plc loan for the state government to finance some projects in the state. The projects, according to a letter sent to the Assembly by the state governor, Nyesom Wike through the speaker, is intended to carry out rehabilitation of roads within the Port Harcourt metropolis, renovation of the Assembly and High Court complexes and as well construction of Abonnema bridge and completion of Agip road, among others. The Speaker while reading the letter of request to the House said; “As you are aware, the new government inherited an empty treasury from the out-gone government. Evidently, this situation has made it very difficult for us to function effectively. Consequently, in order to kick-start developmental activities and deliver on our promises to the people of Rivers State, we have considered it very necessary to secure a loan facility to the tune of N10billion

Facts have emerged concerning the despicable role the Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikasuwa, played in the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as president of the Senate on Tuesday. Eminent Nigerians, one of them Law professor Itse Sagay, blamed Maikasuwa for the fraudulent emergence of Saraki as Senate President. Man Locks Wife Inside Room For 7 Months

A 20-year old housewife, Mercy Ekeh, has narrated how her husband, Kelechi Ekeh, 30, forced her to marry him at the age of 17 and kept her in captivity by locking her inside their room apartment for seven months in Egbe, Lagos State, western Nigeria. She said she was inside the room until he impregnated her and thereafter forced her parents to collect N300 as her bride price. But her husband said his decision to keep her in the room was not intended to punish her, saying he was showing her love and caring because he did not want her to suffer in his home. Anambra State-born Mercy narrated her plight at Eiigbo Customary Court, Lagos, where she filed a suit for the dissolution of the marriage. She also told the court that during her captivity she was not allowed to see anybody or her parents. A 14-year-old SS1 student in a secondary school in Ikorodu, Lagos, western Nigeria, has narrated how her 49-year old father, Adeboye Adesola Waheed, raped her twice. According to the teenager (name withheld), the incident allegedly happened first in November 2014 and again on 5 March, 2015, in Ikorodu area of the state. Speaking about her ordeal, the girl said she lived with her father and other siblings in a room apartment where he allegedly raped her. “We are six living in the room, my father, his new wife, as my mother had died while I was three years old, my younger brother and two of my half sisters. Boko Haram: Buhari rejects 6-month rotation of MNJTF commander

President Buhari today rejected the proposed rotation of the Commander of the Multi National Joint Task Force, a team of military officers drawn from Chad, Cameroon, Niger and Nigeria with the main objective of fighting against Boko Haram in the region. While addressing heads of government from these countries in Abuja this morning, Buhari said the rotation of the head of the commander of the MNJTF will undermine the capacity the military capacity to sustain the push against the insurgents. He advised that Maj.-Gen. Tukur Buratai (Nigerian), who is currently heading the team should be allowed to remain as the commander for the period of the war "While I agree that this is a joint operation with shared responsibilities, I am, however, of the opinion that military operations that are subjected to rapid turnover of command and control structures, six months duration, as it is being proposed in the documents before us, do not augur well for effectiveness and

Miss Zimbabwe 2015 have dethroned over her nude photos

Miss Zimbabwe Pageant officials today announced that they have dethroned its reigning queen, 25 year old Emily Kachote, following the publishing of her nude photos in a National tabloid just weeks after she was crowned Queen on April 26th.  The Zimbabwean tabloid had in May carried a report and published nude photos of Queen Emily, claiming she shared the photos on a Whats-app group. Emily was questioned and she confessed to sharing the photos on the whatsapp group some months before she became queen. Ironically, Emily's dethronement comes a year after her predecessor was dethroned for the same reason.

Three young men named Femi, Tunmise and a third unidentified guy were caught yesterday June 10th as they tried to escape in their Mazda car with a school girl they had kidnapped who was in the booth of their car. The young men are alleged to be final year students of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University. Some suspicious people alerted police to the guys after suspecting they had taken the girl. The police then chased and caught them around Makuro road in Ile-Ife, where the kidnapped girl was found inside the booth of their car, bound. An angry mob descended on them but they were rescued before they could be killed. Their car was however badly damaged. They boys are currently in the state Police headquarter Oshogbo.

How can a snake this huge be seen around Opebi, Ikeja when it's not Ikorodu or Badagry? That's scary! The Python was killed by two men in a bush around the area today...and when they brought it out, people gathered to take a look.  (and my apologies to those who will find this disturbing)

BREAKING: Saraki’s meeting with Oyegun, APC leaders ‘cancelled’ abruptly

Senate President Bukola Saraki was scheduled to meet with John Oyegun, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress‎ (APC), and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) at 12:45 pm on Thursday, but it has now been called off. Bamikole Omishore, Saraki’s media aide, sent out a message at 12:25, which read: “‎His Excellency, Distinguished Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, will be at APC party secretariat at 12:45 to meet chairman and NWC. Press, please take note.” But a few minutes later, he sent another message, terse this time: “Apologies, meeting has been cancelled.” Omishore did not state any reason for the cancellation of the meeting

Three students, Fisayo Adetoro a 300 level student of Joseph Ayodele Babalola University, (JABU) in Ikeji Arakeji, Osun state, Emmanuel Omole and Wale Ayeni‎ who are both students of the Federal University of Technology Akure, (FUTA) all pictured above, have been arrested by the Ondo state police command for engaging in internet fraud. Announcing their arrest, the Ondo state police spokesperson, Oluwole Ogodo in a statement released yesterday June 10th, said the 3 undergraduate students were arrested at "Ilesha Garage and Delta Hotel" in Akure following intelligence report. The statement in part reads "Through online transactions, the syndicate had, sometime in April 2015, requested six i-phones valued at Nine Hundred and Eighty Four Thousand Naira (N984,000:00k) from Ajiboye Adeyinka Kabir of No. 3, Oyekunle Street, Ajegunle, Lagos State.
