Ebonyi State House of Assembly, yesterday ordered an investigation into the remote and immediate causes of the collapse, over the weekend, of the centenary tower under construction. The house described the collapse of the N60m edifice as a huge embarrassment to the government and people of the state. The house took the decision following a motion brought by the member representing Onicha East Constituency, Obasi Odefa.  The lawmaker in his motion regretted that the state has lost huge amount of money to the collapse of the building. He, therefore, called on the house to mandate its committee on works to launch an investigation into the remote and immediate causes of the collapse. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a popular Abuja socialite who is also a top official of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Dr (Mrs) Imaobong Akon Esu-Nte. A couple in Salt Lake City, Utah were arrested in the middle of a wedding Sunday for having sex on the church lawn.  The wedding party caught Wilson Benally, 56, engaging in a sex act with 60-year-old Sandra Kruser outside of Sacred Heart Catholic Church around 6pm.  One horrified wedding guest ran out into the street to stop a police car to break up the couple The officer who witnessed the sex act wrote in his report that 'Mr Benally had his tongue and finger inside of Ms Krusens [sic] vagina'.  He initally tried ordering them to stop, but was forced to pry them apart when they didn't listen.  At least four children in the wedding party saw witnessed Benally and Kruser at it.  The two were booked at county jail and each charged with gross lewdness and public intoxication. A 25-year-old abortion counselor has filmed herself having a surgical abortion and posted the video on YouTube, saying she wants it to help banish stigma surrounding the procedure. Emily Letts, who works at the Cherry Hill Women's Center in New Jersey, explains in an article for Cosmopolitan.com that ironically, despite being a s*x educator, she hadn't been using any birth control and 'wound up pregnant' by mistake last November.  In her three-minute YouTube video she is seen being wheeled into the operating theater before being filmed from the waist up as doctors remove the embryo from her womb. She remains awake throughout, numbed only by local anesthetic.  The video has been watched 36,000 times and has prompted strong reactions from pro-life campaigners as well as those supporting Miss Letts' actions.  Because she was only in the first trimester of pregnancy, Miss Letts says that she could have swallowed an abortion pill instead of going in for surgery.

In another daring operation, members of the terrorist Islamic sect, Boko Haram, on Monday night killed about 300 people in Gamboru Ngala, Borno State. Gamboru Ngala is a border town with Cameroon. The Boko Haram insurgents also abducted 11 more girls in Warabe and Wala communities in the Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State late on Monday. The insurgents reportedly drove into Gamboru Ngala in armoured vehicles. It was learnt that the insurgents, who seemed to have targeted a local market, shot sporadically at traders at the market before proceeding into the town to wreak more havoc. Gamboru is situated along Nigeria-Cameroon border and is the administrative headquarters of the Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State.
