FG Releases Concrete Proof Of Efforts To Secure Release Of Chibok Girls

The Federal Government has released concrete proof of its efforts to secure the release of the Chibok girls, who were abducted from their school in April 2014 by Boko Haram, confirming President Muhammadu Buhari's commitment to the safe return of the girls. Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Friday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the efforts included swap arrangements dating back to July 2015 which, however, failed for various reasons, including last-minute issuance of a new set of demands by Boko Haram elements. He said that in spite of the failure of the past swap agreements, the government and the security agencies have not relented in the bid to ensure that the Chibok girls are released safely, in line with the mandate given by the President who, upon the assumption of office, directed security agencies to urgently fashion out strategies to trace, locate and ensure the safe and successful release of the Chibok

Emmanuel was one of the Nigerian migrants rescued yesterday, from the Mediterranean by the Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS). The Malta, Italian search and rescue agency shared the Nigerian migrant's photo today with the caption: "Emmanuel is one of 8 children. Vincent Enyeama, Lille Osc of France goalkeeper who retired from Super Eagles duty in 2015 after a heated disagreement with former coach of the Super Eagles,  Sunday  Oliseh has revealed he won't return to the Super Eagles despite pleas from new foreign technical adviser Gernot Rohr according to head coach Salisu Yusuf. According to Salisu, Rohr made every effort to convince Enyeama to resume goalkeeping duties as the country aims to qualify for Russia 2018 but Enyeama in clear terms revealed he isn’t ready to return. “The truth is that the technical adviser has actually discussed with Enyeama, but the truth is that Enyeama has made it clear that he is not ready to return to the Super Eagles again.' Salisu told reporters  on Thursday .  “The positive thing is that we have a good relationship with Enyeama and we respect his decision but when the time comes if he makes up his mind, we’ll welcome him.”

Court strikes out suit challenging Buhari's appointment of Hameed Ali as Customs boss

Justice Muslim Sule Hassan of the Federal High Court in Lagos has struck out a suit filed by Lagos based lawyer Activist Ebun Olu Adegboruwa challenging the appointment of Col Hameed Ali (rtd.) as Comptroller General of the Nigeria Custom Service.  Adegboruwa in the suit filed in November 2015, prayed the court to determine if President Buhari can appoint anyone as comptroller general of customs without complying with section 3 of the Official Gazette of the Federal Republic of Nigeria made on 25th March 2002, wherein it was stipulated that only those within the rank of Deputy Comptroller General of Customs can be elevated as substantive Comptroller General.  Striking Adegboruwa's case out, Justice Muslim Sule Hassan ruled that Adegboruwa lacked the locus standi to file the case because he is not a member of the custom service. He also held that the president by the virtue of section 5 of the 1999 constitution has the executive power to make appointment. 

Buhari Accused of Plagiarising Obama at Launch of #ChangeBeginsWithMe

Less than two weeks after President Muhammadu Buhari launched the controversial ‘Change begins with me’ campaign and called on Nigerians to shun lawlessness and embrace values such as honesty and integrity, it has been discovered that the parts of President’s speech was plagiarised. Parts of the President’s speech was plagiarised from United States President Barrack Obama’s November 4, 2008 victory speech in Chicago,  ThisDay  columnist Adeola Akinremi pointed out in his column for the paper on Friday. A review of both speeches showed that indeed parts of Obama’s speech were lifted verbatim. In his rousing speech following his victory, Obama, who like Buhari had promised Americans change, challenged them to avoid going back to the way things were as change could not happen that way. He said,  “So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.

Former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan has picked holes in the authenticity of the representatives of the four companies who pleaded guilty on Thursday to charges of money laundering at a Federal High Court in Lagos, presided over by Justice Babs Kuewumi. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd defendants told the court through their counsel that their clients were challenging the validity of the representatives of Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited; and Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited on the basis that they failed to produce a letter of authority to represent the companies as required under section 477 (2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015. Konduga, Boko Haram spokesman, rearrested in Ndume’s house

The embattled self -confessed spokesman of the Boko Haram Islamic sect, Ali Sanda Umar Konduga (a.ka Al-Zawahiri) who was sentenced to three years imprisonment without option of fine and released last week, was rearrested at the Maiduguri residence of Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume by some good Samaritans and Policemen attached to Government Reservation Area (GRA) Police Station. Sources said, Konduga was identified, beaten and rearrested on Wednesday after he sneaked into the Senator’s house the third times beginning from Sunday 11th September 2016. Konduga according to family source, “kept on coming to the Senator’s house purposely to apologize to the immediate family for indicting Ndume, who was charged for providing Konduga with politicians’ phone numbers and not disclosing information to authorities under Nigeria’s Terrorism Prevention Act”. Video: Syrian rebel accidentally blows himself & comrades up by taking a selfie with a phone bomb detonator

A video which has emerged online shows the horrific moment a Syrian rebel accidentally blows himself and fellow freedom fighters up by attempting to take a selfie with a mobile phone rigged to an explosive. Although the Footage has not been verified, it shows a group of eight men, believed to be members of the Free Syrian Army, gathered around a camera. Sitting in front of a rebel flag and flanked by rifles, they sing into a microphone and appear to be filming a propaganda video. One of the rebels is then seen holding a mobile phone up in front of his face to take a selfie of the group, but as he hits the button, it triggers an explosion. Shocked rebels can be heard shouting but it is not clear if anyone was killed or injured in the blast. Watch the video below..

The Trump campaign followed suit on Thursday, releasing a recent physical signed by Trump's doctor, detailing his own medical records. Both records are inconclusive. See them below. Pastor Arrested For Rubbing Olive Oil On Church Members Vag!na and Cl!toris

The founder and leader of Faith Word Church International at Nii Boi Town in Accra has been arrested by the police for allegedly rubbing Olive oil in the vagina and on the clitoris of his church member. Pastor Edmond Kakrae Agyei, according to the Tesano police, claimed he was casting evil spirits that had possessed the victim by applying the oil in her private part. After the act, the pastor allegedly attempted to rape the victim but she reportedly shouted for help and managed to escape. Pastor Edmond Kakrae Agyei has provisionally been charged for indecent assault and breach of trust. The Ajangbadi Police Division of the Lagos State Command on Thursday, September 15th, arrested Ifunanya Eme for dumping her newborn baby by the road side around 3am on Tuesday, two hours after delivering the baby by herself. The 31-year-old single mother claimed she dumped the baby because she couldn't afford to feed her as the father had abandoned her when she became pregnant. It was gathered that a passerby alerted the police after hearing the pitiful cries of the baby. The police arrived the scene and took the baby to a nearby hospital for check up, before they initiated an investigation to discover the mother. Their first clue came when some neighbours alerted the Divisional Police Officer, Alim Musa, a Chief Superintendent of Police, about the pool of blood trickling out of a neighbour’s house. When the police got to the residence, the suspect was seen recuperating, while the baby was nowhere to be seen. The police questioned her once they confirme
