STEVE JOBS REAPPEARS: Steve Jobs May Appear On U.S. Postage Stamp

CNN) - The likeness of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs may appear on a commemorative U.S. postage stamp in 2015, only four years after his death. Jobs' name appeared on a list of approved postage-stamp subjects obtained by The Washington Post. Other notable Americans expected to appear on forthcoming stamps include pop icon Michael Jackson, singer James Brown, rocker Jimi Hendrix, talk-show host Johnny Carson, hoops star Wilt Chamberlain, actor Charlton Heston and gay-rights leader Harvey Milk. The document from the U.S. Postal Service's Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee names "approved subjects" and says that design work on most of them has already begun. But a USPS spokesman told CNN that the list, dated January 7, is still subject to change.

Contrary to widespread believe that Central Bank Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, first ran into trouble with President Goodluck Jonathan late last year when he wrote a letter accusing the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation of diverting N8 trillion of Nigeria’s oil revenue, PREMIUM TIMES can report today that Mr. Sanusi first incurred the wrath of the presidency in 2012 when he granted a newspaper interview criticizing the administration’s handling of the Boko Haram insurgency. Mr. Sanusi had granted an interview to the Financial Times of London in 2012 blaming widespread poverty in the North for Boko Haram’s success in recruiting members. That interview, this newspaper can report, terribly irked Mr. Jonathan and earned Mr. Sanusi a query from the presidency.

WIFE KILLER: Judge Sentences Slain Banker Titilayo’s Husband To Death

Arowolo Akolade, the man who stabbed his banker wife to death on Friday June 24, 2011 after a domestic dispute at their home in Isolo, Lagos (read the story here), has been found guilty of her murder and has been sentenced to death. Akolade appeared before trial judge Justice Lateefat Okunnu of the Ikeja High Court this morning Friday Feb. 21 and was found guilty on one-count of murder. The judge said the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that he killed his wife. "I pronounce the defendant guilty and accordingly sentenced to death," Justice Okunnu pronounced. Akolade burst into tears after the verdict was read. Akolade and Titilayo had been married for only two years and had a young daughter when he brutally attacked her with a knife on his birthday after they argued. Arolowo claimed in court that Titi had attacked him with the knife and eventually turned the knife on herself. The court didn't buy his story. Gist Arena

Federal Road Safety Officer Rapes Colleague’s 9-Year-Old Daughter On A Visit To Their Home

ONDO – A 31-year-old officer with the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has been relieved of his duties by the authorities of the agency for defiling the 9-year-old daughter of his fellow officer. This was announced on Thursday February 20th 2014 by the Ondo Police image maker, Wole Ogodo. The suspect, Emmanuel Ilori, will furthermore be charged to court soon. The incident reportedly happened at Omitogun Estate Shebi, area of Akure metropolis, when Ilori went to visit his co worker in his residence. It was gathered that Ilori visited Oguntayo Oluwafemi on the said day and after discussing some personal issues, the father of the victim decided to excuse himself to buy something in the neighbourhood with which to entertain his guest. LAGOS – Persistent power outage in the past weeks led to Judges in the Ikeja division of the Lagos State High Court conduct their proceedings in darkness on Thursday February 21st 2014. Lawyers and litigants showed up to conduct their cases as early as 9 a.m. but the court could not sit due to power outage. Vanguard reports: The persistent power outage in the court in the past one week got to its peak, because the courts could not initially sit until about 11 am when one of the power generating sets for the building was switched on. Thirty minutes after the power was brought back, the generating set went off, prompting some of the judges to stall their proceedings. Judges who were conducting their cases, however, opted to continue proceedings with torchlights to conclude their cases. Yesterday, President Jonathan suspended the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, a surprise move to many who may not have been aware of the Federal Reporting Council of Nigeria's (FRCN) report which indicted the CBN governor on several account. The FRCN report which is dated June 7, 2013 was made after a review of Sanusi's response to a query he received from the President over the 2013 financial statement of the CBN. According to a copy of the report obtained by The Punch, the council indicates that the explanation provided by the suspended CBN governor is "a clear display of incompetence, nonchalance, fraud, wastefulness, and abuse of due process and deliberate efforts to misrepresent facts on the part of the leadership of the CBN."
