Police officers in Equatorial Guinea on Saturday beat up a Nigerian diplomat, Noah Ichaba, on the street of Bata in Equatorial Guinea. Mr. Ichaba, a vice consul of Nigeria to Equatorial Guinea was beaten to pulp at kilometer 6, Roundabout, Bata police checkpoint. The diplomat said he was at a traffic point around Cruce Ntobo roundabout on his way to Cinco market on Saturday when an Equatorial Guinea police officer stopped his taxi driver, speaking Spanish. He said the police officer suddenly, in a high voice also started speaking to him in Spanish. Mr. Ichaba said he tried to explain to the officer that he could not understand Spanish and could speak English but this fell on deaf ears as the officers continued shouting until an occupant of the vehicle told him, “Documento! Nigeria’s Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee has stripped a lawyer, Kunle Kalejaiye, of his rank as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The stripping is one of several disciplinary measures against Mr. Kalejaiye. Mr. Kaleijaye was the Nigerian lawyer caught exchanging text messages with an election tribunal judge, Thomas Naron, during the election litigation between former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State and the state's current governor, Rauf Aregbesola. Mr. Kalejaye had faced an inquiry into his unethical conduct since 2008 when a series of text messages between him and the judge were made public.

Nigeria army has rescued at least 275 women and children from the camp of Boko Haram in the northeastern Borno State, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said Thursday. Soon after they were liberated by the country's military forces in Borno State, the abductees were taken to a temporary camp in Malkohi, a local community near Yola, capital of the neighboring Adamawa State, from where they were taken to a destination yet to be ascertained, a spokesman of NEMA told Xinhua. The evacuation was a military strategy, to guarantee the safety of the abducted persons, spokesman of the local emergency management agency said.
