Okorocha renames Ministry of Happiness

C hief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo said a typographic error led to the naming of the Ministry as the Ministry of Happiness and Couples fulfilment.It is now called Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment. “There was a typographic error in the first statement issued on the swearing in of the new commissioners. The word “Couple” was inadvertently written, instead of the word “Purpose,” we regret that. Nigerian government approves six new private universities (FULL LIST)

T he Federal Government of Nigeria has approved licences to six private universities. The approval was given on Wednesday by the Federal Executive Council, FEC, in its meeting chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the council chamber of the presidential villa. The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who briefed State House correspondents after the meeting listed the universities to include: Admiralty Univerity, Ibusa, Delta State; Spiritan University, Nneochi, Abia State; Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan; Pamo University of Medical Sciences, Port Harcourt, Rivers State; Atiba University, Oyo State; and Eko University of Medical and Health Sciences Lagos.

Kachikwu, Baru get marching orders to clear fuel queues by weekend | TheCable

I be Kachikwu, the minister of petroleum resources, and Makanti Baru, group managing director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), have been mandated to clear the fuel queues in Abuja and Lagos by the weekend. The directive was issued on Wednesday at the federal executive council meeting presided over by Vice-President. Lai Mohammed, the minister of information, who briefed journalists about the development, said contrary to speculation, the government has no intention today or in the near future to hike fuel price in the country. Another batch of 257 Nigerians return from Libya

A few hours after 144 Nigerians voluntarily returned from Libya, 257 others have made it back home. The returnees arrived aboard a Libyan Airlines aircraft at about 1.30 am on Thursday. Joseph Alabi, spokesperson for the Lagos airport police command, said they were assisted back to Nigeria by the International Organisation for Migration and the European Union. “They comprised of 65 adult females, 179 adult males, seven children and six infants,” Alabi added. He said four of the returnees have medical cases and have been taken away for treatment. The returnees, he said, were received by officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, Nigerian Immigration Service, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria. BREAKING: Police Release Moses Motoni On Bail

A group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) had earlier sent an urgent appeal to the UN in a statement on Wednesday drawing attention to Motoni’s arrest. The Police in reaction released a statement on its official Facebook page on Wednesday saying Mr Motoni is alive and was not arrested by SARS. “Moses Motoni is alive, healthy and in good condition. He was not arrested by SARS Operatives but by a Police Team based on the case of inciting public disturbance reported against him.
