Suspected Fulani herdsmen have attacked and killed two farmers in Omasi, an agricultural community in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra state. During the visit of the state governor, Willie Obiano, to Anambra State Teaching Hospital, Amaku, where the injured was receiving treatment, it was gathered that the hostility began when the herdsmen invaded the farms of the villagers with their cattle and destroyed their crops.fulani-herdsmen-300x1971 The farmers warned them to desist but unknown to them, the herdsmen were bitter over the warning and ambushed three farmers killing two and leaving one injured. The governor condemned the attack on his people for no justifiable reason and ordered that the perpetrators though on the run to be apprehended and punished accordingly. He also assured the people of his commitment to securing every area of the state from miscreants and criminal elements.

According to PM News , Nigeria military authority said on Saturday that it has arrested eight persons over the recent bombing attacks in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Major General Chris Olukolade, spokesperson Nigeria Defence Headquarters said in a statement that among the eight persons who are now helping the investigation process with useful information, are three foreigners. “In Abuja, eight persons are currently being interrogated after raid operations by troops of security agencies on joint surveillance and patrols mission in the Federal Capital today. “The arrested persons are helping ongoing investigation with useful information after the operation which is sequel to intelligence reports. First Lady Patience Jonathan has said she's ready to lead a protest to Chibok, Borno state if the kidnapped girls are not released soon, and doesn't mind being shot if that's what it will take to release the girls.  Mama peace made this statement during a meeting with wives of government functionaries, female Senators and Commissioners. "I do not mind being shot as long as they return our girls to us safely, we are tired of the kidnapping,” she said. According to her, First Ladies of other countries such as Cameroon, Chad, Niger and others have  being calling to ask her questions and offer assistance on the matter. "They intimate me of their readiness to help. They also asked me questions that I could not answer ‎and as women we are the last hope of this nation. We cannot fail our fellow women and the nation. If need be, we will call on the northern elders to help us so that our children and husbands will not die,” Dame Jonathan said.‎‎

The leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, has dared Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, to be prepared to meet him on the battle field. Asari-Dokubo, who dismissed the threat by the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, against President Goodluck Jonathan, warned that 2015 would be “more than do-or-die.” The Niger Delta region former fighter, who spoke Thursday night during a strategic partnership session with former militant leaders organised  by the Niger Delta Development Commission, recalled how Shekau threatened that the violent Islamic sect would soon come for President Jonathan. Asari-Dokubo cautioned that the people of Niger Delta would not be deterred by any threat to them or President Jonathan and added that the 2015 election remained a challenge to the survival of the people of the region.

An uncompleted 2-storey building collapsed yesterday at Ologuneru in Ido LGA of Ibadan city with one feared dead. According to those who were working at the site, they head a deafening noise at about  2pm , which made them all run out for safety but unfortunately, the tipper driver who supplies sand to the construction site didn't run fast enough and got trapped in the building as it collapsed. Men from the Nigerian Security & Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps & other agencies were involved in rescue efforts but were not able to lift the heavy debris to rescue the man on time. The site engineer reportedly fled the scene immediately the collapse happened.

US diplomats in Nigeria on Friday claimed that "groups associated with terrorism" could be planning to attack a hotel in the financial capital, Lagos, in a travel note to citizens warning of security risks. "As of late April, groups associated with terrorism allegedly planned to mount an unspecified attack against the Sheraton Hotel in Nigeria, near the city of Lagos," the US Consulate General in Lagos said in an emailed advisory. "There was no further information regarding which of the two Sheraton Hotels in Lagos was the possible target, or if both of the Sheraton Hotels are possible targets.
