Boko Haram: Don’t Commit Suicide, Sambo Tells Buhari

Image
Vice-President Namadi Sambo on Thursday advised the APC presidential candidate, retired Maj.-Gen.Muhammadu Buhari, against committing suicide by planning to personally lead the war against Boko Haram terrorists, if elected president. Sambo gave the advice at the PDP Presidential Rally in Yola, Adamawa. The vice president said his advice was against the backdrop of the advice given to Buhari by his presidential running mate to personally lead the war against Boko Haram if elected President in next month’s presidential election. Sambo urged Buhari to ignore the advice from the APC vice presidential candidate, adding that any attempt by Buhari to lead such war would amount to a “suicide mission” in view of his age. According to him, the APC should allow President Jonathan to continue to adopt ”a more scientific and modern” warfare in tackling the menace of the Boko Haram insurgency. “I want to seize this opportunity to draw our attention to a publication, last wee

The DG of the National Orientation Agency & Coordinator of the National Information Center, Mike Omeri says intelligence reports gathered by Nigeria's security agencies show that Boko Haram members are planning to use bomb-ladened cows, goats and chicken to attack Nigerians at political campaign grounds, market places, and ATM locations. Attack On Monguno Desperate, Diversationery - Military Sources

Image
The multiple attacks by Boko Haram on Maiduguri, Konduga and Monguno in Borno State early in the week was a desperate and diversionary attempt to both pre-empt a massive onslaught and create avenue for escape for insurgent commanders. But the most callous aspect of the attacks was the conscription and deployment of child-soldiers, teenage-female suicide bombers and animals to frustrate troops. Senior military officers knowledgeable about military tactics and operations concerning plans to launch the “wipe off” attack on terrorists infested locations in the north east told PRNigeria that the attacks on the three towns could be a further confirmation of allegations that there were Boko Haram moles in high places. It is common knowledge that the military were preparing a comprehensive onslaught on the Boko Haram terrorists in an operation meant to rid the entire region of insurgency in time for the February general elections. According to a source, weekend

Boko Haram Preparing For Massive Onslaught On Maiduguri

Image
According to new security reports, Boko Haram militants may be planning a massive attack on Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State any time soon. This comes less than a week after Nigerian soldiers repelled a daring attack and handed the insurgents a costly defeat last Sunday. According to Sahara Reporters, security and local sources say that Boko Haram terrorists appeared to be regrouping to overrun the strategic northeast city before commencement of Nigeria’s general elections due to start on February 14. Before the Islamist fighters struck last Sunday, residents of some communities near Maiduguri said they had alerted the Nigerian military that some insurgents were approaching along the Dambua-Biu road near Allahganrino village. According to the reported informants, the military had apparently paid no heed to their warnings. A day later, Boko Haram attacked Maiduguri. This account by the locals also corroborates the findings by Amnesty Internationa

Most entertainers run after politicians because of poverty - Saidi Balogun

Image
In an interview with Encomium magazine this week, actor Saidi Balogun said the reason entertainers run away after politicians is because of poverty - please read what he said it's kinda interesting... "(Poverty), that's why you see some of our people running helter-skelter, campaigning for all these politicians. But there's one question we have all not asked, and that's what makes American artists donate to politicians while the actors here in Nigeria are asking from politicians. Every member of the National Assembly has not made an reasonable law on piracy which has devoured the industry. So, there's poverty in the industry. If there's not, you won't see our people flocking around all these politicians, campaigning, singing and dancing for them. I saw a candidate being surrounded by some of our colleagues; I now said to myself, 'if this man eventually wins, how many actors or musicians will he remember? Although some are doin

APC To Boycott BON-organised TV Debates - APC Campaign

Image
The All Progressives Congress (APC) will not be not be featuring in the on-going electioneering public debates on national television and radio, being organized by the Broadcast Organization of Nigeria (BON), because of the unhidden bias and campaign of calumny by some key organizers of the program, against the corporate political interest of the party (APC) and its candidates. Garba Shehu, Director Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organization (APCPCO) said in a press statement on Thursday in Abuja that the Nigeria Election Debate Group (NEDG) powered debate was fraught with fundamental errors from the outset, by wearing the toga of government control, especially being composed mainly of agencies and allies of the incumbent People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) administration. “A salutary inspection of the composition of NEGD brings into focus the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON), National Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Cor

INEC rejects PVC distribution till election eve

Image
The Independent National Electoral Commission in the Federal Capital Territory said on Thursday that it was impracticable to extend distribution of the Permanent Voter Cards till the eve of the presidential election scheduled for February 14. Many have expressed concern over the slow pace of the distribution of the cards‎ and suggested that it should be extended till February 13 to avoid disenfranchisement of many registered voters. But the Resident Electoral Commissioner of Abuja, Prof. Jacob Jatau, who addressed journalists at his office in Abuja said the the commission would not be able to combine the logistics involved in preparing for the election with the distribution exercise till ‎the eve of the first round of polls. He said though the distribution exercise was due to end on January 31, the commission was considering an extension by a week to increase the level of collection from the current 55 percent to between 60 and 70 per cent in the FCT.
