Nigeria’s Special Forces from the Army’s 7th Division have sighted and narrowed the search for the more than 250 abducted Chibok schoolgirls to three camps operated by the extremist Boko Haram sect north of Kukawa at the western corridors of the Lake Chad, senior military and administration officials have said. “It has been a most difficult but heroic breakthrough,” one senior military official said in Abuja. According to Premium Times That claim was supported by another senior commander from the Army’s 7th Division, the military formation created to deal with the insurgency in the Northeast. The 7th Division is headquartered in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. The breakthrough comes at a critical moment for the Nigerian military that has faced cutting criticism over its handling of the kidnapping of the girls more than a month ago. The attacks by Boko Haram on Nigerians do not seem to be abating. At about 4am, at least 30 villagers were killed and several others injured as gunmen attacked Shawa village in Damboa local government area of Borno State. The gunmen crept attacked the town while most were sleeping, they shot and set houses ablaze with petrol bombs. A resident of Shawa village who managed to escape the killings said the gunmen continually chanted “Allahu akbar” (God is great) while shooting sporadically. “It was at about 4am when we began to hear the sounds of vehicles; then it was followed by shooting of guns. We immediately knew we were in trouble”, said Musa Yakubu, a resident of the village, who spoke on phone from Biu where he fled to during the attack.

A member of Boko Haram on Tuesday granted an interview to US news channel, CBS where he revealed that the group spent three months planning the abduction of 276 girls of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, last month. The man who gave his name as Saleh Abubakar told his interviewer that the reports that some of the kidnapped girls are sick and in need of medical attention were false. He claimed to have seen the abducted girls three weeks ago, and that all of them are fine. “It’s a lie,” he said. “They don’t have any problem at all.” Abubakar said the girls would neither be harmed nor sold to slavery as slaves (as Abubakar Shekau initially said), because they had converted willingly to Islam. But he maintained that the government must first release all Boko Haram fighters currently in detention. The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected mad man for being in possession of arms and ammunition. The man was arrested on Saturday by some vigilant residents of Gowon Estate in the Ipaja area of Lagos. “The people were curious about what he was dumping. Two policemen attached to Special Anti-robbery Squad – ASP Franklin Alade and Cpl Deleojo Odunayo – were also implicated in the matter, for abuse of office. A human skull was found in the ceiling of the St. Peter Cherubim and Seraphim church on Moses Adebisi Street, in the Ketu area of Lagos. Mary Paul Lalai, mother of one of the abducted teenagers of Chibok in Borno State has been confirmed dead. The confirmation was made by the member representing Chibok constituency in the State House of Assembly, Aimu Fona. He told The Nation that on hearing the shocking news of the abduction of her daughter, the mother collapsed and she eventually died of heart attack. Left to mourn the late Mrs. Mary is her husband who is still hoping for the release of two of his daughters held at the Sambisa Forest stronghold of the wicked Boko Haram sect. This is really sad. May her soul RIP!

According to a report by AFP, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA told them that 118 people have been confirmed dead from today's bomb blast in Jos, with several others still under the debris "The exact figure of the dead bodies recovered as of now is 118 and more bodies may be in the debris of buildings which collapsed due to the intensity of the blasts.” Mohammed Abdulsalam told AFP. He also revealed that 56 people were injured in the twin blasts. Plateau state Police commissioner Chris Olakpe had earlier told reporters that only 46 people were killed and 45 others were injured. He later said "We are saying 46. That’s the number we have in the morgues. But we are not ruling out more bodies.” Well, eye-witnesses insists there are way more bodies. At least 200. Many have not been recovered.
