U.S. likely to sanction Patience Jonathan, Orubebe, others over election incitement, rigging

The United States government appears set to sanction Nigeria’s ​first lady, Patience Jonathan, a former Niger Delta minister, Godsday Orubebe, ​and ​the ​governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema, and other Nigerians accused of either disrupting the just concluded elections, or instigating violence. The U.S. said Monday that it will impose visa restrictions on any Nigerian found to have incited violence or interfered with the electoral process. The U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said in a​ statement that the U.S. will shut its doors on people involved in any form of violence during the polls. “Anyone found to have incited violence or interfered with electoral processes will be unwelcome in the United States and subject to visa sanctions,” Ms. Thomas-Greenfield said. Ado-Ekiti woman delivers twins after waiting for 14 years

Mrs Roseline Akinsola, 50, on Monday delivered a set of twins after 14 years of childlessness. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Akinsola, who works at the Ekiti State Christian Pilgrims Board, was full of praises to God for answering her prayers. The mother of two girls, who weighed 4.2kg and 2.3kg, advised other couples in need of children not to lose hope. U.S. Requests For Kashamu’s Extradition

The government of the United States of America has begun fresh moves to extradite Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu to face drug trafficking charges, which he has been evading for several years now. This was revealed by his lawyer, Mr. Ajibola Oluyede, in a petition to the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC. In the petition, Oluyede also accused former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, of being behind the plot to extradite Kashamu. According to Oluyede, “Kashamu’s enquiry revealed that indeed there had been moves by US officials within the region to secure the assistance of the head of the INTERPOL division in Nigeria, Mr. Solomon Arase, a Deputy Inspector General of Police, for the arrest and delivery to the US officials of Kashamu for transportation to the US without following the due process required by the Nigeria Extradition Act. “Mr. Kashamu’s informant revealed that Arase has confirmed that Donna Chabot approached him in January 2015. 3 people reportedly arrested for the murder of Emmanuel Sithole

South African police claim they've arrested 3 of the men who attacked Mozambican man Emmanuel Sithole on the streets of Alexandra on Saturday April 18th. He later died in hospital “The suspects were arrested in Alexandra (on Sunday evening) with help from the members of the community. Several exhibits that may be used as evidence were seized during the arrests” Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said. He also said there's a manhunt for a fourth person. The three are expected to appear in a Magistrate court in Alexandra tomorrow Tuesday April 21 on charges of murder. This South African man,  Sbonelo Mbatha (left) took to his Facebook page to tell a heartwarming story about his friend from Democratic Republic of Congo who lives in South Africa. His post has over 38,000 likes and shared more than 10,000 times. Read what he wrote below... This is my friend from DRC. He washes my car every time when I go to the gym and charges me R50. Even when I forget to lock the car, I'd never loose a cent when he is there! He pays R120 a day to hire the wash machine and sometimes looses his money when the weather turns rainy. He has 2 little girls with his wife, they both go to primary school. He washes an average of 5 cars per day (5xR50=R250)  - R120 = R130, buys food for R30, netts R100 per day on average. Bobbi Kristina Brown is "awake" and has come off her life support machine, according to her dad Bobby Brown and his sister Tina Brown. Bobbi Kristina, 22, has been in a medically induced coma for the past two and a half months, since she was discovered unresponsive in a bath tub on Jan. 31. But now it seems like things are looking up for the daughter of Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston , after her dad and aunt sent out messages to fans over the weekend, saying that her condition is starting to improve. Bobby Brown, 46, gave the first hint that his daughter was making steps towards recovery on Saturday, April 18, when he made an announcement to shocked fans at the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie, Dallas, while on stage at a Frankie Beverly concert. "I can say today Bobbi is awake. She's watching me," the "Every Little Step" singer told his audience in a speech that was posted to Instagram later that night.

PDP NWC Did Not Handle Presidential Campaign Fund - Metuh

PDP press statement... The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Olisa Metuh has distanced the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) from the controversy surrounding the handling of the PDP Presidential campaign funds saying the NWC never received any amount from any quarter for the campaigns. The PDP spokesman who stated this while fielding questions at a radio programme in Abuja on Monday also noted that President Goodluck Jonathan has denied ever spending the bandied N2 trillion on his campaigns but added that NWC was not involved in the management of any fund released for the campaign. He further explained that all funds during the campaign were directed and managed by the Directorates of the Presidential Campaign Organization, which the NWC had no control over.

A  number of groups held peaceful demonstrations outside the South African High Commission in Abuja today to protest the xenophobic attacks against foreigners living in SA, including Nigerians.  After comments by a number of protest leaders, the group handed over a communique to a representative of the high commission and left peacefully. Xenophobia: See camp where over 1,000 displaced people are now staying in SA

Here are some photos from the Internally Displaced refugees camp with 1000 people, including a lot of small children and pregnant women who up until recently had their own homes but now are forced to live in these tents in this camp in dowtown Johannesburg in an area called Germiston which also was center for a lot of Xenophobic attacks. The camp, housing displaced immigrants from all over Africa including Nigeria, was set up about a week ago next to the Primrose Hill Police station, on Poppy Rd, Germiston to prevent further attacks  Founder of Health PR and Catwalk the World Peace campaigns in South Africa, Matthew Mensah, was there recently to deliver food.
