Mbeki, Abdulsalami meet Buhari in Kaduna after meting with Jonathan

 former South African President, Thabo Mbeki, and a former Nigerian military Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar, where in Kaduna on Sunday to meet with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, over the forthcoming general elections. At the end of the meeting, which was held behind closed doors at Mr. Buhari’s office along Jabi Road, Kaduna metropolis Monday morning, neither the visitors nor Mr. Buhari spoke with journalists. Messrs. Mbeki and Abdulsalami left to the Kaduna airport to fly back to Abuja after a photo session, which marked the end of the over one hour meeting. Messrs. Mbeki and Abdulsalami had met with President Goodluck Jonathan at Aso Villa on Sunday. The two former leaders did not speak to the media as well.

Police in Ekiti state parade woman for roasting hubby’s manhood

The Ekiti State Police Command today Monday March 7th paraded a woman, Bukola Ogidiolu, for allegedly pouring petrol on her husband, and setting him ablaze. The fire destroyed his private parts. According to  The Nation , while being paraded to reporters, the 36 year old woman claimed that she had a disagreement with her husband over his alleged nonchalant attitude to her failure to conceive since their marriage over three years ago. She denied setting her husband on fire for refusing to take her out on the Valentine’s Day which happened to be her birthday.  Bukola said she didn’t know how the attack happened. The incident happened at the couple’s residence in Idolofin area of Odo-Ado, Ado-Ekiti. Bukola said: “We had disagreement over his nonchalant attitude to my barrenness that day and we were fighting. Chad soldiers killed as Boko Haram lose Nigerian towns

(Reuters) - About ten Chadian soldiers died in fighting to free two towns in northern Nigeria previously held by Boko Haram, the first gains against the militants made in a joint offensive launched with Niger at the weekend, military sources said on Monday. About 30 Nigerian and Chadian soldiers were wounded in clashes over Malam Fatouri and Damasak, a day after thousands of troops crossed the border to retake areas held by the Sunni Islamist group, whose insurgency has forced Nigeria to delay an election and neighbors to mobilize their armies. A Chadian officer, who asked not to be named, said about ten Chadian soldiers were killed and 20 wounded in fighting to liberate the towns. There was no official comment from Chad's army. "We have kicked the enemy out of these areas and they are now under our control," one of the Niger military sources said. There were indications that the Presidency may have put the National Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, under close watch, The Punch has learnt. It was learnt that the Presidency was not comfortable with the activities of the chairman of the ruling party as some members of the party were said to have informed President Goodluck Jonathan of the alleged double-faced activities of Mu’azu. It was learnt that the Presidency took the action following reports against the former Governor of Bauchi State, Mallam Isa Yuguda that he was not fully committed to the second term aspiration of President Jonathan. 28 Inmates Of Ikoyi Prison To Sit For Matriculation Exam

Ikoyi Prisons School revealed today, March 9, that no fewer than 28 of its students would write the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), 2015, which commences on March 10. This was made known by Mr. Ayodele Obarewo, the School’s Principal, who said, in Lagos that the inmates were adequately prepared for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)-organised examination. Obarewo also revealed that more inmates had shown interest in furthering their education, having gone through several reform programmes being offered in the facility. The principal said the rise in the number of students registered for this year’s examination was encouraging. He said the figure had increased from the 14, who wrote the examination in 2014, to 28 this year. Our economy cannot support brand new trains - Doyin Okupe says. Nigerians react

In an interview with Adeola Fayehun of Sahara TV, Presidential aide Doyin Okupe said Nigeria cannot have brand new trains because our economy cannot support it. He was reacting to a question on why trains seen in Nigeria are looking very Locomotive compared to the ones in America  "Forget it. We are not America. You cannot have brand new trains because the economy cannot support that."he said  Asked why Nigeria economy cannot support the purchase of brand new trains since we have been quoted as the largest economy in Africa, Dr Okupe only said; "We are the largest market. Oyedepo Makes Prophetic Statement On 2015 Elections

2yr old burnt to death in fire outbreak in Ibafo, fire caused by stored petrol (photos)

A 2 year old child was burnt to death this morning after fire broke out at his parents home in Ibafo, Ogun state. A resident in the area said the fire started after gallons of petrol stored in the compound by a neighbour ignited due to heat in the area. A household provisions seller, Kwatri, has narrated how his claim that he was a mechanic and a Muslim helped him to escape from Boko Haram’s den in Mubi, Adamawa state. Kwatri, who is a Christian, while narrating his ordeal in Boko Haram’s den to Daily Times at the NYSC camp for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Damare in Adamawa state, informed that he repeatedly chanted: “Allahu Akbar” when he was confronted with death in the hands of the Boko Haram insurgents. He said he's decided not to vote because this year's election is like a do-or-die affair for some people.
