INEC releases results in four of six Area Councils in FCT; Buhari wins 3

The results of the elections held on Saturday has been received from four of the six area councils in the Federal Capital Territory. The results brought in at the Independent National Electoral Commission collation centre at Area 3 Primary School are those of Abaji, Kwali, Gwagwalada and Kuje. Detailed of the results as at 9 p.m. on Sunday showed that the All Progressive Congress won in three of the four councils – Abaji, Gwagwalada and Kwali, while the Peoples Democratic Party won in Kuje Area Council Details of the results showed that in Abaji, the APC polled 9,840 votes, against the PDP’s 8,799; Kwali, APC 14,645, PDP’s 13,610, and Gwagwalada APC 25,476 and PDP 20,475. PDP polled 17,354 votes in Kuje Area Councul against APC’s 15,101. The results for the Bwari and Abuja Municipal Area Council were being awaited at the time of this report. Source: PT

INEC Chairman Prof. Jega addressed the press this evening where he spoke on some issues bordering on the general elections. Professor Jega said he does not know where Femi Fani-Kayode got his information about PDP winning in 23 states. He said coalition is currently ongoing.  

Presidential Election: Jonathan wins Ekiti State

The president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan won in all the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State in Saturday’s presidential election The PDP candidates equally cleared all the three senatorial seats and 6 House of Representatives seats in the state. Briefing newsmen at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office ,Ado Ekiti yesterday,the Chief Returning Officer for the Presidential election for Ekiti State and Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Technology,(FUTA), Akure, Prof. Biyi Daramola said the president and other PDP candidates won in all the 16 local government areas of the state According to Daramola ,Jonathan scored a total of 176,474 votes to defeat his close opponent, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress,(APC) who polled 120,332 votes. He thanked the electorates for conducting themselves peacefully during the election exercise. INEC insist election held in Rivers, say Amaechi erred to ask for result sheet before election commenced

PORT HARCOURT: Resident Electoral Commissioner, Rivers state, Dame Gesilia Khan Sunday night said elections held in the 23 local government areas of the state. In a statement last night she said the agent of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Ikwerre local government area, Mr Steve Worgu signed for all documents, including result sheets for Ikwerre local government area, the governor’s local governent. “The Presidential, senatorial and House of Representatives elections held In the 23 Local government areas in the Rivers state on March 28, 2015.”, she said. Women give birth in bush while escaping Boko Haram attack

Two pregnant women gave birth to babies in the bush Sunday morning while fleeing from suspected Boko Haram insurgents that attacked Gunti Gumi village of Alkaleri Local Government area in Bauchi State. A witness, Bala Kurba, said the insurgents stormed the village, forcing the residents to take to their heels. “The pregnant women were among those who fled the village. I was also in the bush when I saw a group of women battling to assist the two pregnant women deliver their babies. “The women gave birth successfully and were taken to a nearby community, where they were kept,” said Mr. Kurba, who is the Manager of the Bauchi State government-owned Community FM Radio station in Alkaleri. Bauchi Police Command’s spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the attack in a statement issued on Sunday. DSS, Army Clampdown on Eligible Voters and APC chieftains Okorocha’s Village In furtherance to the general plan to whittle the political influence of top APC Chieftains during the presidential election, about 500 eligible voters in Ogboko Ideato South of Imo State have been under arrest since yesterday while many others were arrested on their way to polling stations in the area. The voters mostly graduates and undergraduates and adults were arrested and their PVCS confiscated to deny them their right to vote. All attempts to free them was rebuffed by the combined team of Army led by a Captain and the Department of State Security. Speaking to the press, Gov Rochas Okorocha lamented the situation and called on voters to resist intimidation but remain law abiding.
