WAR AGAINST EBOLA: Rivers State releases N300million to fight Ebola in the state

Image
Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi announced today that his administration has released over N300million to fight the Ebola virus in the state. Amaechi disclosed this while speaking with the Country Director of the World Health Organization, WHO, Mr. Rui Vaz, at the government house in Port Harcourt. “Whatever it takes for us to overcome Ebola, please, I will do it because it costs more if Ebola is on the loose than if it is contained. So, we are happy that the World Health Organization is here to assist Rivers State. We are happy that the World Health Organization appreciates the dangers of Ebola to our communities. We need to contain Ebola. If there is no cure, then there is containment so that more persons don’t contract it. The Rivers State Government is prepared to take all the responsibility. ISIS DID IT AGAIN: Isis video claims to show beheading of US journalist Steven Sotloff

Image
Islamic militants released a video on Tuesday that purported to show the beheading of a second captive American journalist, Steven Sotloff. The Site Intel group, which monitors terrorist propaganda and first reported details of the apparent beheading, said Sotloff appeared to have been killed by the same Islamic State (Isis) fighter who beheaded another American journalist,  James Foley , two weeks ago. The killer, who speaks in British-accented English, then threatens to murder a British hostage. US officials said intelligence experts had begun work on establishing the authenticity of the video. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the US had seen “reports of a video that purports to be of the murder” of Sotloff. “The intelligence community will work as quickly as possible to determine its authenticity,” she said. “If the video is genuine, we are sickened by this brutal act taking the life of another innocent American citizen. Dear Gistarena readers: My ex left me to marry another woman because of how much I earn

Image
From a female Gistarena reader My ex-boyfriend and I had a conversation yesterday about the reason he dumped me four years ago to marry another girl he'd started dating about two years after we started dating. My ex and I started dating in 2008, but by early 2010 he met another woman who he married nine months later. He broke up with me just four months before the wedding. I was so hurt and devastated that for three years I would not give another man a chance. I didn't have closure because I was tormented by why he chose another woman over me. Eventually we had the conversation yesterday after we met at a mutual friend's wedding on Saturday. What he told me was shocking. He said he loved me more but decided to marry the other lady because she earned more than I did. I was earning N85k at the time while the lady was earning N250k. He figured an extra N165k was enough reason to marry her. How is this even a reason to marry? Are some men this small minded? Is this a gen
