Buhari Allegedly Snubs Tinubu, APC, Consults Jonathan Over Ministerial Appointment

Image
Reports say President Muhammadu Buhari, may have boycotted the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in reaching decisions on ministerial appointments. The president’s action, it was revealed, was due to some unrealistic demands of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, national leader of the APC, alongside other chieftains of the party. The revelation was made last weekend among some friends of Femi Adesina, the special adviser on media and publicity to the president, during a ‘thank you’ visit to Buhari at the defence house in Abuja. It was suggested that this may have also been the reason president Buhari has kept the APC leade

How Saraki Deceived Buhari, Outwitted APC To Become “Senate President”

Image
A source at the Presidency has told SaharaReporters that Senator Bukola Saraki misled President Muhammad Buhari into believing that he was welcome to help broker a solution to a crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the choice of the party’s candidates for top legislative posts in the National Assembly, including President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives. The APC had chosen Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila as their candidates for the Senate Presidency and Speaker slots respectively. But in a stunning development, Mr. Saraki was this morning elected as President of the Senate after garnering the block support of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and some APC senators who broke rank with their party. In a similar vein, PDP members of the House of Representatives threw their block votes behind Yakubu Dogara, selecting him as Speaker over the APC-endorsed Gbajabiamila. Our Presidency source accused Mr. Saraki, wh

The convoy was ambushed by militants south of Tripoli before dawn this past Wednesday morning. Meron Estafanos, the co-founder of the Stockholm-based International Commission on Eritrean Refugees, said that the group of migrants included "about 12 Eritrean Muslims and some Egyptians. They put them in another truck and they put 12 Eritrean women Christians in a smaller pick-up". Estafanos said that the militants had initially stopped the truck and demanded that the Muslims on board make themselves known. Everyone who responded was asked about the Koran and their religious observance in an attempt to catch Christians pretending to be Muslims. The main body of the group was put back on the

BREAKING NEWS: APC Rejects Election Of Saraki, Dogara As Senate President, House Speaker

Image
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as totally unacceptable and the highest level of indiscipline and treachery the conduct of Tuesday’s inauguration of the National Assembly that led to the emergence of Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara as Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, respectively. ”Senator Bukola and Hon. Dogara are not the candidates of the APC and a majority of its National Assembly members-elect for the positions of Senate President and House Speaker. The party duly met and conducted a straw poll and clear candidates emerged for the posts of Senate President, Deputy Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, supported by a majority of all Senators-elect and members-elect of the House of Representatives. All National Assembly members-elect who emerged on the platform of the party are bound by that decision. ”The party is supreme and its interest is superior to that of its individual members,” the part

Justice Buba Dismisses Suit Seeking To Vacate Aig Mbu From Police Force

Image
Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday dismissed the suit seeking to vacate Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Mbu Joseph Mbu over his alleged abuse of power. In his ruling, Buba said no court in Nigeria could declare the office of a police officer of the rank of AIG vacant, saying that such action was the responsibility of the Nigeria Police. “If any threat is made against any person, it is the duty of the police to investigate and punish the officer who made it accordingly, even if it is an AIG. “No court in Nigeria can declare the office of such officer vacant; it is the duty of the police, “he said. Buda said that the case of the plaintiff had no merit and was therefore dismissed. In the substantive suit numbered FHC/L/CS/149/15, the plaintiff, Mr Tope Alabi, a lawyer, is seeking a declaration that the first defendant, Mbu, “is unfit to be a police officer in Nigeria.” Alabi hinged his prayers before the cou
