Ebola-like Marburg Fever Kills Man In Uganda

Image
A man has died in Uganda's capital after an outbreak of Marburg, a highly infectious hemorrhagic fever similar to Ebola, authorities said on Sunday, adding that a total of 80 people who came into contact with him were quarantined. Marburg starts with a severe headache followed by hemorrhaging and leads to death in 80 percent or more of cases in about nine days. It is from the same family of viruses as Ebola, which has killed thousands in West Africa in recent months. There is no vaccine or specific treatment for the Marburg virus, which is transmitted through bodily fluids such as saliva and blood or by handling infected wild animals such as monkeys. The health ministry said in a statement that the 30-year old radiographer died on Sept. 28 while working at a hospital in Kampala. He had started feeling unwell about 10 days earlier, and his condition kept deteriorating. He complained of headache, abdominal pain, vomiting blood and diarrhea. Samples were taken

FBI Warns Of ‘Potential Imminent Attack On United States’

Image
The head of the FBI said in an interview broadcast late Sunday that the U.S. is preparing for an imminent terrorist attack. FBI Director James Comey said the Khorasan Group, an al Qaeda affiliate in Syria, may still be working on a plan to hit the United States. “Khorasan was working and may still be working on an effort to attack the United States or our allies, and looking to do it very, very soon,” he said on CBS’s “60 Minutes.” “I can’t sit here and tell you whether their plan is tomorrow or three weeks or three months from now,” he said. “Given our visibility, we know they’re serious people, bent on destruction. And so we have to act as if it’s coming tomorrow.” He said that terrorist networks in Syria are a product of “the metastasis of al Qaeda” with the two major groups, al Nusra and the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Daniel Ayala was enraged when he saw the beggar he gives money to driving a brand new Fiat This is the moment a man saw the elderly homeless woman he gives money to every day - driving a new car. Daniel Ayala walked past the Shell garage on his way to work for weeks to hand a few notes to the panhandler sat on the corner. One day, he missed lunch to give her $4. But he was sent in to a foul-mouthed rage on Wednesday when he passed by to see her in a 2013 red Fiat. Their encounter in Oklahoma City - filmed by another duped citizen - shows Ayala screaming at the woman, who claimed to be a 78-year-old widow too poor to afford food. 'This is crazy!' he shouts. 'You are asking for money in the middle of street and you drive a 2013 car? 'Listen, I work hard for my money. I don't appreciate this sh*t. And that's why people like you take advantage of people like me. This is bullsh*t!' Turning around rubbing his face in shock, he then exclaims:

What Texas can learn from Nigeria when it comes to containing Ebola - The Washington Post

Image
While devastating reports continue to stream out of West Africa, where the deadly virus has overwhelmed already weak public health systems and left thousands of people dead, and anxiety grips the United States over the first case of Ebola diagnosed in the country, one nation serves as an example of hope: Nigeria, which appears to have successfully contained Ebola. As concerns spread over U.S. hospital readiness, there are some lessons to be learned from Nigeria, where officials managed to get ahead of the fast-moving virus after it was brought into Africa's most populous country by an Ebola-infected man who'd flown into Lagos. This week, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that the outbreak could be coming to an end in Nigeria, with no new Ebola cases since Aug. 31. As in the U.S. case, Ebola arrived in Nigeria by passenger plane. But unlike Thomas Eric Duncan — who arrived in Dallas before he became symptomatic and was therefore not contag

"I thank God that I never listened to the UNILAG lecturer who warned me against marrying Pastor Mathew otherwise I would have been probably in a one corner room in Lagos but you see how my life has turned out to be, traveling all over the world to preach and minister. The lecturer never saw any future in Pastor Mathew as a Pastor but the lecturer is late now. I didn't know that marrying Pastor Mathew will end this way even I didn't want to preach when I married him. I just wanted to be a full house wife but he was the one who really discovered me and saw the beauty of God in my life. So he mentored me to what I am today and I never knew that KICC would be a big church that it is today&
