OZUBULU SHOOTING: Police Arrest Suspects Involved In Shooting

T he Anambra state Police Command has said that it has arrested suspects involved in the early Sunday morning killing of worshippers at St. Philips Catholic Church in Ozubulu. Spokesman of the command, Nkeiruka Nwode, confirmed this to TheCable on Monday. Police While refusing to reveal the identities of the suspects, the spokesman said that the suspects were arrested on Monday. “This is a very sensitive investigation so you people (journalists) have to help us,” she was quoted as saying. “As soon as the investigation is concluded, we will let the public know. But as far as I’m concerned, it definitely has nothing to do with terrorists. It’s just a conflict between individuals.” No fewer than 35 worshippers were killed scores injured. Return the house Kwara State built for you - Femi Falana tells Bukola Saraki

H uman rights lawyer, Femi Falana has asked Nigeria's Senate President, Bukola Saraki to return the pension he received as former governor of Kwara state to the Kwara State government as well as return the house built for him as a former governor. Saraki said he wrote to the Kwara State government to stop his pension, after SERAP said some former governors, who hold political office, were receiving double pay.  In a statement issued today, Falana asked Saraki to prevail on other former governors in the senate to stop receiving pensions. “Since Dr Saraki has come to the conclusion that the collection of the pension is immoral he is advised to refund the pension he had collected from the Kwara state government since he became a senator in June 2007. He should also relinquish the house bought for him in Abuja by the Kwara state government since he is said to receive housing allowance as president of the senate". Igbo traders warn IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, to stay away from Lagos state

I gbo leaders and traders in Lagos have warned the director of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, not to come to Lagos state to stage any of his rallies. Kanu last month, disclosed his plans to come to Lagos . Speaking with Sunday Telegraph, Chief Chiemeka Ibeh of Alaba Amalgamated Traders Association, said the IPOB leader should leave Igbos in Lagos alone because his visit will create the impression that Igbos in Lagos are supporting Kanu and IPOB activities. “He should keep his Biafra in the East where our unemployed youths are following him all over the place, not knowing what they are dabbling into. Most of these youth do not understand what Biafra is about and what it has cost Igbo people. Since his actions led to the quit notice by the Arewa youths, I expected Kanu to have paid upfront all transport companies on the northern route to be conveying Igbo people who might be interested in coming back to the East, but he has not paid a kobo to anybody
