The Economic and Finanacial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on August 2, 2016 arrested a level six officer of the Accounts Department of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Christy Olabode, for an alleged fraud to the tune of N100 million. Also arrested was her younger brother, Abdul-Shehu Obaze, a staff at the Commercial Department of FAAN in Ilorin, Kwara State, and Dominic Ojo, an IT officer at FAAN Headquarters, Lagos. Her arrest followed an anonymous petition, which indicated that she allegedly diverted the said sum, by inserting names of non-FAAN staff into its payroll. She allegedly conspired with Obaze, to perpetrate the fraud. Obaze was found to have maintained not less than eight accounts in seven new generation banks, which were used to receive the funds for onward distribution to“several high ranking officers within the FAAN”. The Nigerian Air Force,NAF, on Friday resumed fresh air strike on suspected militants’ hideouts and suspected vandals in Arepo, Ogun State. NAF was said to have resumed the aerial bombardment following gunshots sounds heard earlier in the area. This is coming after the visit of the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, and other top security personalities to the area on Thursday. Recall that security forces in a combined operation had recently bombarded the hideout of suspected vandals and militants in some border towns of Lagos and Ogun State. The Nigerian Air Force had also conducted a five-day air raid with footage showing how missiles from its jets were release into enclaves of suspected militants in Arepo area, Ogun state. As the budget padding scandal continue to rock the lower legislative chamber, embattled Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on Friday, met President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential villa, Abuja. It was learnt that the speaker came into the Villa at about 2:25 pm and went straight into the president’s office.
