A war of attrition has broken out between Jumia and Konga with both retailers now set for a showdown, Both are barely two years old in Nigeria, but the cold war brewing between the nation's foremost online retailers, Jumia and Konga, is threatening to hit the court room. Owned by Berlin-based Rocket Internet, Jumia Nigeria opened its e-commerce operations in 2012. It has since risen to become a major player in online retail shopping in Nigeria. The company says it now controls 70 per cent of the Nigerian online retail market and has dealt with close to a million customers since it began operations. One month after Jumia Nigeria launched, Konga.com began its operations to tap into the largely untapped Nigerian online retail shopping. The Chances are high that the First Lady, Patience Jonathan has been flown to Germany for another medical treatment. The report was gathered from two reliable sources in Abuja, who spoke with an online news medium, Sahara Reporters on the state of health of the First Lady. One source disclosed that President Jonathan's wife was secretly moved out of Abuja almost a week ago. "She was flown out about a week ago," a source at the Presidential Villa told our correspondent. A retired civil servant in Edo State, who had threatened penultimate week to either hang himself or eat rat poison, has chickened out of the plan at the eleventh hour. Mr. Dennis Amayo, a 64-year old husband and father, had two weeks ago written an open letter to Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, threatening to kill himself on February 14th, a day dedicated to the celebration of love as espoused by Saint Valentine, if the state government fails to pay him his eight months pension arrears. in Kwara Tragedy struck on Friday night in Oro in Kwara as a stray police bullet killed a 35-year-old politician during a party to celebrate St. Valentine's Day. The party held at the Topmost Hotel, Oro in Irepodun Local Government Area. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the APC stalwart, Mr Femi Oladipo, died instantly from the bullet wound. Oladipo was a former chairmanship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November, 2013 local government election in the state before defecting to APC. The death of Oladipo has triggered a protest in the town with some antiriot policemen and soldiers drafted to the scene on Saturday. A witness told NAN on condition of anonymity that a stray bullet from one of two policemen providing security at the hotel hit Oladipo's chest at 11:45p.m. He said that Oladipo was mediating in a minor disagreement among some youths when the incident occurred.
