The difference between you and Buhari is trust, Femi Adesina replies Jonathan

Image
F emi Adesina, spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari, says the difference between his principal and former President Goodluck Jonathan is trust. Adesina said this in response to Jonathan’s comments on the reaction of Nigerians to the hike in petroleum products under Buhari. In 2012 when Jonathan’s government increased the price of fuel from N67 to N97, there were a series of protest across the country. Three years later, when he was seeking reelection, Jonathan reduced the price to N87, a move that was seen as political. Last year, the current administration pushed the price to N143 and there was little or no resistance. Commenting on this when he received Tunde Adeniran, a chairmanship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Abuja on Thursday, Jonathan said: “My government was severely criticised for increasing the pump price of petroleum from N67 to N97 at a time that global crude price was going for over 100 dollars. “The pump price was l

F ormer President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday said Buhari's administration has failed in governance. He also noted that APC’s victory in the 2015 presidential election was aided by propaganda and lies, added that the ruling party has continued to feed Nigerians with lies and has deployed hi-tech propaganda to cover up its misrule. Jonathan spoke when he received Prof. Tunde Adeniran, one of the chairmanship aspirants for the December 9 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), also attacked the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, for failing to fix the power sector within the period his party had been in power as he expected of the PDP. In his words, 'those who are giving us some kind of names, what have they done? They spread propaganda and lies to professional level. Sometimes, people come to write off the 16 years of PDP, but PDP did well from May 1999 to May 2015. The PDP administration for 16 years did well, but this admin

N igerian rapper M.I Abaga and his record label, Chocolate City, are suing American hip-hop artist Nas for breach of contract. M.I filed the lawsuit in the New York Supreme Court, claiming he and his record label entered an agreement with Nas and his partner Ronnie Goodman in 2013 to contribute a verse to a track from M.I but they did not deliver on it after a payment of $50,000 had been made.  In the agreement, Nas was supposed to mention "M.I, Chocolate City, Nigeria, Queens, New York—NAS's hometown—, Mandela, Trayvon Martin, and the struggles of Africans and African Americans" in his verse. Nas delivered the track but didn’t mention any of the subject matter Chocolate City had asked for. Chocolate City then requested that the Queens rapper re-record the verse but he never did. It's been over three years now and Nas still has not delivered on the verse though he has accepted payment, hence the lawsuit. In the lawsuit, Chocolate City referred to N

Goodluck Jonathan Speaks From US- Why Niger Deltans Do Not Want To Be Part Of Biafra

Image
F ormer President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebere Jonathan yesterday delivered a lecture at Texas US on why remaining indivisible with Nigeria than joining forces with Biafrans in splitting the country will pay niger deltans more. I begin this write-up by saying that I mean no ill-thought towards the Biafran struggle or Igbos in general. What I’ve written here are mainly my personal reflections concerning the Niger Delta, especially with regards to non-Igbo groups and their stake in the Biafran movement which has been rebirthed for some time now. I am not a mouthpiece for the Niger Delta but I believe I’ve been in the Niger Delta long enough to know our problems and our stand. I’ve also interacted with many Niger Deltans to know their stand in the Biafran struggle. When I use the term Niger Delta, I am referring to the region covering Delta, Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states. However, I understand that the region also covers Ondo, Imo, and Abia states.
