The jealous girlfriend who threw acid in the face of Nigerian girl Naomi Oni while wearing a veil as a disguise in December 2012 has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for the vicious attack. Mary Konye, 22, (pictured left) was sentenced today March 21 at Snarebrook Crown Court in the UK. Naomi, also 22, was not in court for the hearing today Naomi suffered burns to her face. leg, arm and chest in the attack that left her scarred for life.  Raja Dalelah Raja Latife said she was alarmed when she saw what looked like a plane in the water as she flew to Kuala Lumpur Dailymail UK Reports that a Malaysian woman on a flight across the Indian Ocean claimed to have seen an aircraft in the water near the Andaman Islands on the day the jet disappeared. The Kuala Lumpur wife was so convinced about what she saw at 2.30pm on March 8, several hours after MH370 vanished, that she filed an official report with police that very day - a full five days before the search for the plane was expanded to the area around the Andaman Islands.   News of her apparent sighting came as a blank was drawn after two days of searching in the Indian Ocean for two objects deemed by experts as possibly being from the missing plane. Her account will be seen by many as having credibility as the islands lie within the northern corridor officials speculated that the plane might have travelled along after radar contact was lost.  

The search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 is set to enter its third week after Australian authorities said planes sent to locate two pieces of possible wreckage in the remote southern Indian Ocean had failed to spot the objects. As more countries prepared to join the international effort to locate the plane over the weekend, Australia's deputy prime minister warned that the debris, which was spotted by a satellite five days ago, may have sunk or drifted for hundreds of miles.   The Boeing 777 disappeared off the coast of Malaysia almost two weeks ago with 239 people – 153 of them Chinese – on board, sparking a multinational search encompassing millions of square miles, with the focus now on a 23,000 sq kilometre zone in the Indian Ocean. Rift Valley, Kenya: A mother, who was sentenced to 10 years in jail by a Nakuru court on March 7 for having an ‘affair’ with her five-year-old son, says she was forced to commit incest because adolescent girls snatched her lovers away twice, leaving her dejected and hopeless. Speaking at Nakuru GK prisons, where she had just begun her jail term, Mary Wamboi Muriuki, 46, a grandma and mother two older children aged 24 and 22, narrated, amid sobs, how circumstances left her exposed after her husband died in 1998.   Attacked and raped Wamboi claimed that a person she knew and respected attacked and raped her while she was walking home one evening from a farm where she was employed as a casual labourer. Zimbabwe:  A six-year-old Bulilima boy was kidnapped on Monday and found hanging from a tree two days later. Matabeleland South acting provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nkosilathi Sibanda said police suspected the boy was killed before he was hanged on the tree. He said Tumeliso Ndlovu’s body was discovered by a neighbour who alerted other villagers.   “The neighbour came across the body of six-year-old Tumelo hanging by a rope from a tree. He recognised the boy and alerted villagers,” said Ass Insp Sibanda.

On yesterday's episode of Jim Iyke's reality show, Jim Iyke Unscripted, the actor  proposed  marriage to his girlfriend, actress Nadia Buari. He later said the ring he presented to her was a 6-carat diamond ring he designed himself and made in different countries. After the episode aired and the news broke, fans congratulated Nadia on her new status as Jim Iyke's fiancee, but her tweets a few hours ago suggests there's more going on. LAGOS— A 29-year-old woman Ngozi Obi was, yesterday, arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a Sports Utility Van, SUV, from her husband, one Aloy Chibuzor Obi, worth N2.8 million. The defendant, who is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing preferred against her, was docked before Magistrate Abimbola Komolafe. The Police prosecutor, ASP Iranus Nnamonu, told the court that the defendant and others at large, conspired together to commit the alleged offence.   He said that the incident happened at 8p.m., on September 22, 2013, at Agege area of the state. Nnamonu said the accused stole a Toyota Highlander jeep number plate JJJ 184 AJ, valued N2.8 million, belonging to one Aloy Obi.   The prosecutor said that the offence committed is punishable under Sections 409 and 285 of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.   However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges. No fewer than 15 armed robbers invaded the Christ Apostolic Church in Alagbado, Lagos State, stealing about 40 phones and money estimated at N2m. According to Punch , the robbers, who operated for about 20 minutes, were said to have also attempted raping some of the church members before they left the church premises. It was learnt that the men came around 2am penultimate Friday while the over 450 congregation was engrossed in a prayer session.  

The House of Representatives on Thursday passed a resolution to probe an alleged spending of N10bn by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, to charter and maintain a jet for her personal use. The resolution indicated that the minister spent 500,000 Euros or N130m monthly to maintain the aircraft in the last two years.   “Thus, in the last two years, the minister has committed at least N3.120bn to maintaining the private jet, which is used solely for her personal needs and those of her immediate family, which is an appalling act”, the sponsor of the motion, Mr. Samuel Adejare, told the House.   He alleged that other “wasteful” costs associated with the minister’s frequent trips with the jet were “currently estimated at N10bn, which include payment of allowances to the crew for trips, hanger parking and rent based on the lease agreement.”

POPULAR actor, John Okafor has decried the absence of adequate structures in Nollywood. Also he criticised the recent visit of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria to President Goodluck Jonathan, which did not appear to go down well with some people who queried the motive in the first place.   For these critics, the actors only went to grab a ‘piece of the national cake.’ And though the actors concerned have since defended their decision to pay the President a courtesy visit, popular Nigerian comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, is still not pleased.
