Pic: Police officer knocks LASTMA official unconcious with his gun

A mobile policeman yesterday afternoon attacked three officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, and knocked one unconscious following an argument along Ashabi Cole off Lateef Jakande road Agidingbi in Ikeja. Trouble started when LASTMA officials attempted to tow a vehicle parked in front of a bank which was causing traffic. The police officers guarding the bank challenged the LASTMA officials and tried to prevent them from towing the vehicle which was said to belong to a bank customer. An arguement ensued and before anyone could stop it, one LASTMA official was rushed to the hospital after a police man gave him a head butt and smashed the butt of his gun into his face. When other LASTMA officials saw what had happened to their colleague, they turned the whole scene into a free for all show as both parties started arguing and fighting. Head of LASTMA confirmed the incident and said the unconscious official is receiving medical attention.

18 Year Old Mum Arraigned For Assaulting 5 Year Old Daughter

An 18-year-old girl and mother of one, Kate Ajie, has been arraigned before a Rivers State court over assault and child abuse to her five-year-old daughter, Divine. The 18-year-old mother was said to have seriously beaten her five-year-old daughter to the extent that a concerned neighbour who accused the mother of constant maltreatment had to involve the police by taking the girl to the Divisional Police Officer, Mohammed Suleiman Baba on February 21. The 18-year-old Kate who is the only child of her parents revealed how she had the child for her an unwanted lover, how her mother died of breast cancer and her father remarried. Narrating her story “I stopped schooling when. I was impregnated against my will in 2008 by one boy called Godstime in my village at Ogoni. He was doing nothing when he impregnated me.

Bowen University closed indefinitely following students' riot

The management of Bowen University this morning closed the school indefinitely following students' protest last night. Students of the private uni. say they are protesting scarcity of electricity, water and plans by the university to increase school fees. The students say they are not being treated right "They take the light by 8am, and bring it back by 8pm and it goes off by 11pm again. We don't have water, no socket light, while our lecturers are in AC offices and cars. We have time table for eating. 7-9am for breakfast, 12-3 for lunch and 6-8 for dinner. Most times we have classes during these periods" one student told me. All students have been asked to leave the university...while some students who were detained last night after the riot are yet to be released. Continue...

Photos: Lady dies In Accident Just A Month To Her Wedding

29 year old Juliet Igbinoba (pictured above with fiance) died in a fatal motor accident on Monday 17th of March along the Lagos-Benin road just a month before her wedding. Juliet was planning to get married on April 19th; invitation have been sent out and preparation was in top gear before she met her untimely death while going home to meet her people over her forthcoming wedding.  Juliet was a staff of Fouani Nig Limited and an Accounting graduate of Auchi Polytechnic Edo State.. Burial arrangements for her would kick off today with service of songs and then interment  tomorrow . May her soul rest in peace amen....

Barley 24 hours after President Goodluck Jonathan announced automatic employment for injured applicants during the just concluded recruitment exercise of the Nigeria Immigration Service; no fewer than 200 applicants have reportedly stormed the National Hospital, Abuja, seeking to be registered as beneficiaries in the presidential munificence. According to Leadership, applicants had been trooping into the National Hospital, claiming that they had treated themselves at certain private hospitals after the Saturday’s stampede.   A dependable source, who does not want his name mentioned disclosed that some of the applicants claimed that since the federal government was going to rely on the medical records from the hospital, they also needed the medical certificate to be considered for the automatic jobs.

Royal Australian Air Force crew members from an AP-3C Orion arrive back in Perth after completing the first search mission to an area where possible debris from the missing Malaysia Airline was detected. The mission failed to locate any debris. Photograph: Stringer/Reuters So far four aircraft, and and up to seven ships have failed to locate the debris detected in those satellite images, according to the Australia Government.  A statement from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority confirmed that the search operation has finished for today and will resume again on Friday. No sightings were reported.  Here’s  the statement  [pdf]:  Four aircraft were tasked by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority on Thursday to a 23,000 square kilometre area about 2500 kilometres south-west of Perth. This followed the receipt of satellite data imagery from the Australian Geospatial Intelligence Organisation on Thursday morning.

A former Chief Security Officer to late General Sani Abacha, Major General Hamza Al-Mustapha, has attributed the current unrests in the country to institutional decay saying only institutional revolution would restore sanity in the system. He stated this on Wednesday evening in Abuja during the second Christian/Muslim interactive engagement on Peace, Unity and Justice organised by the President of Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor. At the event, the CAN President stated that with Muslims and Christians resolving to tolerate and respect each other’s faith, the ongoing national conference had great potentials of bringing lasting solution to Nigeria.  

#MH370 Malaysian Flight Found? : Two Potential Bits Of Missing Flight MH370 Wreckage Found

Satellite imagery of one of the objects spotted in the Indian Ocean Australian authorities who were tasked with searching the southern Indian Ocean for the missing flight MH370 have sent four aircraft to investigate at least two objects detected by satellite far off the Australian coast The Australian prime minister, Tony Abbott, said specialist analysis of satellite imagery had identified " two possible objects related to the search ".  Australia 's Defence Imagery and Geospatial Organisation, which examined the images, found that the largest object was 24 metres long. Another was about five metres long, according to the analysis.

How 2-Year-Old Girl Died Inside Her Father’s Car

A 2-year-old girl reportedly died from suffocation inside her father’s car in their residence at Kubwa in Bwari Area Counci, Abuja. According to report, the father forgot to lock the car after he came back from the hospital and dashed into the house to take a nap. The little girl had gone into the car with another boy of about three-years old to play. The windows of the car were winded up and the car automatically locked so they could not get out of the car. When the father came out later, he was shocked to find his daughter dead in the car while the boy had fainted. He quickly rushed them to the Kubwa General Hospital where the daughter was confirmed dead, while the boy was later resuscitated. SO SAD: Woman and Her Husband As Immigration Victims

A couple, who were among the injured during last weekend’s Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS) recruitment tragedy, are crying out for help. Mrs Grace Omuagbo and her husband Mr.  Timothy Omuagbon, are among the Nigerians who tried to get a job with the Immigration Service during the scam exercise but she is now in the hospital being treated at the emergency ward of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital. Grace, an Economics graduate of the Delta State University, suffered a broken rib and scapula during the stampede at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.   A can was provided to help her drain out blood from her broken rib and she was put on oxygen. "I had broken ribs and a bone in my shoulder. An iron has been fixed in my rib to enable the blood to flow. Doctors said my lungs collapsed"... 

Pastor Bakare Says He'll Donate Nat'l Confab N12m To Charity

Respected radical pastor, Tunde Bakare, has revealed that he will donate his own share of the allowances and stipends from the conference to charity. Bakare said he does not need the money, insisting that he is not in the FCT, Abuja, to make money but to render services for the good of Nigeria. "I do not need the money they are paying. I am here to render my service to the country. If it becomes very important [for me to collect it], I will give the money to charity. "No retreat, no surrender. I am not going to walk out, no matter what. I am going to stay here and fix the problems. In war it is no retreat, no surrender!"

Lady beats 10 year old niece into unconsciousness for bed-wetting

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old security guard, Joy Amodu (pictured above), for allegedly torturing her 10-year-old niece, Foziya Danjuma for several hours till the little girl fell unconscious. All because Foziya peed on her bed on February 28, 2014, Punch reports   According to the police, the suspect as punishment, used a spatula to beat the 10-year-old and inserted Aboniki balm (methyl salicylate ointment) inside her private parts and her eyes. The suspect also allegedly inflicted teeth bites all over the girl’s body. It was after the girl fainted during the beating that her aunt rushed her to a hospital in the Ajah area, but she was rejected. Amodu then took her niece to a military hospital on the Victoria Island, but the victim was referred to the Military Hospital, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi. It was at the military hospital that a non-governmental organisation, Hands that Care, took over the case and reported it to the police.

Atiku says he's one of the highest employers of labour in Nigeria

Former VP Atiku Abubakar says he is the highest employer of labour by any single private investor in Nigeria. He stated this in a series of tweets yesterday using the hash tag #LetsTalkJobs.
