General Buhari Writes The Truth, Again."Our Economy And Our Society’s Security" - By Gen. Muhammadu Buhari

Image
In the last couple of weeks our country has attracted the World’s attention for the wrong reasons. The dreadful and appalling crime of up to 300 school girls’ abduction has shocked the world’s conscience. News of efforts to rescue the girls has rather overshadowed the World Economic Forum Africa, whose theme was: Forging inclusive Growth, Creating Jobs. The backcloth of the Forum itself was the statistical exercise that rebased our economy. The result of the exercise made us the largest economy in Africa and placed us among the top 25 in the world. But those numbers are at variance with the lived experience of our citizens. Across the length and breath of this country and in our cities, poverty is so visible, so general and so extreme. Those numbers have no meaning to the well being of the vast majority of our society. The theme of the conference was also at variance with existing policy priorities. The rebased numbers were weighed in favour of the service s

The document, prepared by Mr Okon Osung, was distributed to the delegates last week. Osung, who spoke with journalists in Abuja on Friday evening, confirmed that he distributed the controversial document. He said, “This calls for the postponement or deferment of the scheduled 2015 elections by at least 18 months, while retaining all the democratic institutions at all levels of governance and across the entire spectrum of the country’s political divide, without any bias to the statutory termination dates of such democratic institutions.  “T

Boko Haram Negotiator: "Using Force To Rescue Abducted Girls Is NOT An Option Now"

Image
Shehu Sani, a former negotiator between Boko Haram and government, is advising the Nigerian authorities to negotiate with Boko Haram to set free the girls or fight with them .He told CNN “Connect the World” show “There are two ways to which you can get these girls free. The first is to use force, and the second is through dialogue. The use of force is not an option for now in the sense that nobody knows where these girls were kept. And even if you know, these girls have been embedded in with the insurgents who are heavily armed. And any attempt to rescue them will be putting their lives in further danger.” You all know the FG says they won't negotiate with terrorists while Boko Haram says the only way they would release the girls is when they free their members from prison.

I Will Visit Chibok But Does That Solve The Problem?" - President. Jonathan

Image
At a press conference for the Regional Security Summit that held in France today, President Jonathan explained why he hasn't visited the Chibok community, the school or parents of the missing girls... "The school is owned by the State Government but it is the commitment of the Federal government to rebuild the school, build walls to protect it and provide facilities since it is predominantly a school that takes care of girls education so that the girls would be protected. Yes I will visit Chibok, no doubt about that but what we are anxious about now is to locate the girls. These girls are not held in Chibok. If the President goes to Chibok today, does that solve any problem? Maybe psychological problem or for media relevance but you have not solved the problem. The problem facing the President and indeed the Nigerian government is to get these girls from wherever they are" he said See pics of President Jonathan at the summit President
