Maryam who has been accused of stabbing her husband, Bilyaminu Bello to death, was arraigned before a court in Abuja this morning on a two count charge of homicide. She pled not guilty. The judge ordered that she should be sent to Suleja prison and adjourned the case to December 7th for further hearing. Watch the video of Maryam reading the Quran below... Court Remands Killer Wife, Maryam Sanda In Prison Custody

T he Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arraigned a housewife, Mrs. Maryam Sanda for allegedly killing of her husband, Bilyamin Bello a son of former People's Democratic Party Chairman.before an FCT High Court in Abuja just as the court ordered her to be remanded in Suleja Prison custody.  She was arraigned for offense bordering on culpable homicide. Maryam could not control her emotion as she burst into tears upon her arrival at the court holding her seven month old baby.  Maryam covered her face a with green scarf to prevent being photographed by the media. Before the commencement of the court proceedings, she read from the Quran.  As at the time of this report the suspect has entered the dock to take her plea and pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of homicide.  The defense counsel, Hussein Musa asked the court to let the defendant be in the police custody arguing that she is still a nursing mother and would be improper to be remanded in priso

President Buhari approves committee to review minimum wage

N igeria’s former Head of Service, Ama Pepple has been appointed to head the 30-member committee to review national minimum wage. The Tripartite National Minimum Wage Committee would be inaugurated on Monday by President Muhammadu Buhari who approved the appointment of members of the country to negotiate a new minimum wage. Mr Samuel Olowookere, Deputy Director, Press, Ministry of Labour and Employment, said by its tripartite nature, the committee was made up of persons from the public and the private sectors. “They include the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME)". He said other members of the committee are Sen. Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment (Deputy Chairman), Mr. Ayuba Wabba and Mr Bobboi Kaigama, among others would be representing the trade unio

F ormer Vice President and Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Atiku Abubakar, has declared his ambition to run for Presidency, in 2019. Making his declaration in a statement released to Newsmen, in Abuja, on Thursday night, Atiku described himself as a poor boy from Jada, Adamawa State. The ex-Vice President, who was recently absent at the APC Stakeholders meeting, at the Presidential Villa, on Wednesday, said he has the vision and experience to run the affairs of Nigeria. Although, there are speculations that the absence of Atiku from APC Stakeholders meeting, implies that he has officially dumped the ruling party for good.
