'Don’t link Owerri church bomb scare to Boko Haram yet' - Police

The Nigerian police has advised that Nigerians should not draw up conclusions by linking the bomb scare at Winners Chapel Church in Owerri on Sunday June 15th, to men of terror group, Boko Haram   At a press conference organized by the National Information Centre, Abuja yesterday, the Police Force spokesperson, Frank Mba advised that until those behind the incident is determined, no one can draw up any conclusion "The media and the citizens should not be in a hurry to link the Owerri incident to established terror cell until the full identity of those behind it are known to security forces. Until the motives are established, I think it will be pre-emptive for us to give it the toga of terrorism. It could be anything, for us in the security world, we live all options open, we are ready to test all hypothesis.’’ he said

Kefee’s Ex-husband, Alec Godwin Mourns Singer

The late singer’s ex-husband Alec Godwin who says he’s yet to come to terms with her death said. ‘Is there any concrete confirmation? "I’m still hoping it’s not true’. Godwin tells the Net after the news of her death broke out. The music producer reminisced on the times they worked together, creating her debut album ‘Branama’ and the follow up ‘Branama 2’ saying: ‘It was a pleasure working with her, it was all so natural. I won’t say I discovered her, I’ll rather say we discovered ourselves because she inspired me to set up my record label ‘Alec’s Music’, Godwin said. ‘I believed so much in her even after we split. She was a talented vocalist‘, he added. Alec and Kefee met at a local church in Warri and fall in love with each other in 1999. In 2003, Alec signed Kefee, a graduate of Public Administration from the University of Benin to his record label Alec Music and released her first solo album. Abducted Sisters, Ejura and Unekwu Opaluwa Reportedly Released

According to breaking news report by Metropole Magazine, the Abuja abducted sisters Ejura and Unekwu Opaluwa, who were  taken  from their Karmo, Abuja home by 5 armed men on Sunday June 8th have been released and are now back home. I have no way of confirming that this information is true but will update later.

Boko Haram Threatened To Carry Out Another Atack In Chibok

Barely two months after abducting over 200 schoolgirls from Chibok, Borno State, the militant Islamic sect, Boko Haram, has written to the people of the community to watch out for their next visit. According to a report by Punch , A highly-placed official of the Chibok Local Government Area, who made this known to journalists on Thursday, said   that in the letter, the insurgents warned Chibok would soon be visited with terror. He however said that the letter had been shown to police authorities who assured them of maximum protection. The official, who did not want his name in print, said in spite of the   assurances by the police, the people were living in ‘‘great fear.’’ He said, “Everyone in the LGA believes that   the sect cannot be   pocketed by security men. Oduah, Soludo Still Under Probe –EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has said that it is still investigating a former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, and a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Charles Soludo. The Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said during a press conference in Abuja on Monday that the commission was still investigating a case of bribery against Soludo. Last year, President Goodluck Jonathan was forced to sack Oduah after a public outcry against her alleged involvement in the purchase of two BMW bulletproof cars for her use by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. A team of crack operatives from the Intelligence and Special Operations Section of the commission led by one Chike had grilled Oduah for five hours on February 2, 2014 in relation with the controversial procurement of the two BMW cars for N255m. Military Arrests 486 Suspected Boko Haram Members In Abia

According to a report by  Guardian , not less than 486 suspected Boko Haram members including eight women were arrested by the military personnel of the 144 battalion of the Nigerian Army with base at Asa in Ukwa West council of Abia State. Abia State Information Commissioner, Chief Eze Chikamnayo, who took some reporters to the military camp yesterday to see the suspects said they were arrested around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday along Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway at Arongwa area called Imo Gate, which is a boundary between Abia and Rivers states. He said that the suspects whose ages were from 15 years were traveling on 35 buses from undisclosed northern states to the South South.  He said that they claimed to be going to search for jobs, adding that two of the buses later escaped.
