Met Police now demands that anyone wanting to join must speak a second language..and Yoruba is one of them.

If you want to join the UK Metropolitan police now, you must be able to speak a second language in addition to English - at least one out of 14 languages and Yoruba is one of them. The police say this is because 300 languages are spoken in London UK Daily Mail   reports  Scotland Yard has come under fire today after placing an advert demanding that anyone wanting to join as a police officer be able to speak a second language. The Metropolitan Police wants to bolster the number of officers able to speak and understand 14 languages which are widely used across London. But the move has sparked criticism from a former officer and members of the public on Twitter. Retired Met Police officer Chris Hobbs wrote: 'I've kept reading and re-reading it. Can't believe it. What about potential BME (black and minority ethnic) recruits who only speak English.' He added: 'Won't this also adversely affect the recruitment of guys and girls from the black comm

18 year old girl tries to commit suicide after boyfriend dumped her (photos)

This 18 year old girl (pictured above in hospital) drank half a bottle of sniper (a popular insecticide) after her boyfriend, pictured above with her, ended their relationship. According to Aisha Yesufu who shared the story on twitter, she said the young girl is currently on admission and that doctors say her heart has now been affected by the poisonous substance. The supposed boyfriend who jilted her had to be called in and is seen in the photos consoling her. Another photo below

Former Lagos governorship aspirant, Jimi Agbaje was on Lovely&Clair show on AIT today around 1:30pm. He gave scholarship to 5 orphans through the show a while back. He got emotional when one of the beneficiaries, Funke, who is now in university came to share her experience & thank him. While narrating her experiences and how her life has changed for the better, Mr Agbaje actually shed tears of joy. SA pastor who made his followers eat snake/cloth, arrested, granted bail

Pastor Penuel Mnguni, the controversial South African pastor of the End Times Disciples Ministries who is known for subjecting his congregation to all kinds of craziness, including swallowing snakes, eating cloth/grass, etc (See  here ) all in the name of performing deliverance, was arrested by the South African police over the weekend but was granted bail today July 20th. The South African Society for Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals opened a case against the controversial pastor late last week. The association say they will pursue a criminal case against him. SPCA inspector Mishack Matlou said: "We are conducting a preliminary inquiry with an intention of opening a criminal case against him. What we saw in the pictures is cruel. Imagine being eaten alive! Alhaji Gay is the number one trending topic in Nigeria right now. His real name is Razak Adetunji Alaso and before today, I'd never heard of him but apparently, he's popular within 'Yahoo Yahoo' circle in Lagos. They say he was very popular for tracking 'Yahoo' boys for the police and EFCC. Some say he was an EFCC/police imposter.   He was killed yesterday at Agbado Ijaiye, in Lagos. People in the know say there have been many attempts on his life - he's been stabbed and shot before but he survived. Guess the people after him succeeded this time. Sad!
