Ondo state governor, Olusegun Mimiko says Yoruba people feel safer with OPC members guarding them than conventional police. He said this at the 80th birthday of the founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress OPC, Chief Frederick Fasehun yesterday September 26th. "You founded OPC, today, I tell you in Yoruba land that many Yoruba people will feel secure with OPC guarding their streets than the conventional police. One thing is clear and I have always said this that OPC is about protection of Yoruba people, because Yoruba people hate injustice” he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari Sunday in New York restated his determination to fully sanitize Nigeria's oil industry and make it totally free of corruption and shady deals. Speaking at a meeting with President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the 70th General Assembly of the United Nations, President Buhari said that a necessary first step in this direction had already been taken with the appointment of a new management for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and its subsequent reorganisation . No fewer than 30 people detained at the Kogi State office of the Directorate of State Service were freed on Friday night when it was attacked by gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect. This was as four people, including an anti-riot policeman, were reportedly killed in the attack by the invading insurgents. The attackers were said to have immediately made for the cell of the DSS office located along Hassan Katsina Road, Lokoja, and released all suspects kept there after gaining entrance. To put this in perspective, the average chicken weighs between three and five pounds. At least one third of the Dong Tao’s weight is from its legs, which typically have a circumference of at least four inches. Despite the enlarged size of the chicken, its meat is particularly tender and has a naturally sweeter flavor than regular chicken. This sweetness is the result of an enzyme in the bird that allows the legs to grow so large. Due to the distinctive flavor and investment of time in raising  Dong Tao chickens, they sell for a considerable price. They average around $10 per pound, although there is at least one recorded sale of a twenty-two pound chicken selling for nearly $300.
