According to the spokesperson of the Adamawa state Police command, Othman Abubakar, the suicide bombers that attacked the Jimeta Main market yesterday killing 31 persons, engaged in a mock fight to attract people before detonating the bombs strapped on them "The staged fight between the two men attracted the attention of people nearby to see what was happening. When people had gathered they detonated their explosives… They killed a sizable number of people,” he told AFP

N3million was reportedly carted away by armed robbers after they stormed the Ministry of Justice in Lagos state government secretariat, Alausa, Lagos in the early hours of today June 5th. Vanguard reports that the robbers gained access into the office where the money was kept, through the ceiling. The stolen money was withdrawn late Thursday June 4th and was meant to be used to settle payments of mediation officers of the ministry. 20 of the ministry's staff have been detained as investigation is currently ongoing.

D esperate and thirsty, 7 year old  Shanay Walker wa s captured on CCTV cameras asking a shopkeeper for something to drink just hours before she was found dead at her home. The footage shows her running barefoot into a corner shop the night before her frail bruised body was discovered at the home of her aunt and grandmother. The child was subjected to months of violent punishment by her 'strict' churchgoing aunt and suffered a 'sustained, vicious and brutal beating' before she died, a jury heard.  Her aunt, Kay-Ann Morris, 24, and grandmother Juanila Smikle, 54, were today June 5th sentenced to eight years and four years in jail, respectively, after being found guilty of cruelty. Morris was cleared of murder after the trial at Nottingham Crown Court.  In the 46-second security clip, Shanay is seen wandering down the aisles in her pyjamas before stopping to speak to the shopkeeper behind the counter shortly before 9pm on 30 July last year.

Nigerian Oil marketers say the lingering fuel scarcity nationwide will come to an end on or before the 13th of this month. Addressing newsmen after a meeting with the federal government today, the oil marketers said the traffic gridlock at the Oshodi-Apapa express is largely responsible for the scarcity as over 3000 tankers are towing to collect fuel from the Lagos depot to distribute to other parts of the country. They say they will be working with the Lagos state government to effectively manage the traffic so tanker drivers can quickly pick up fuel for distribution.

According to Vanguard report, the former president is all to blame for the delay. Ex-Niger Delta warlord, Tompolo, has denied claims made by Dr. Ahmed Ramalan that he was paid the sum of N1.5 billion monthly by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), to protect Nigeria’s maritime zones. Dr Ramalan who was the former chairman of NIMASA had in a report in the Leadership newspaper of Wednesday June 3, 2015, accused Tompolo of not doing enough to stop oil theft in Nigeria’s maritime areas despite the huge sums of money paid to the ex-militant leader. Tompolo has however described these claims by Dr Ramalan as wild, unsubstantiated allegations born out of malice.
