BIAFRA: What South East Gov Discussed With Nnamdi Kanu (PHOTOS/VIDEO)

S outh East Governors today met with the Leader of IPOB, Prince Nnamdi Kanu together with Prof. Ben Nwabueze, SAN and Evangelist Elliot Uko, at the Government House, Enugu. The meeting, according to the Chairman of the South East Governors' Forum, Gov. David Umahi, who briefed journalists alongside Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke, "deliberated on the demands of IPOB and noted their concerns accordingly". "However, the meeting agreed that these demands by IPOB should not be absolute, rather the South East Governors shall immediately engage the leader of IPOB, Prince Nnamdi Kanu and the entire leadership of IPOB to further meetings and dialogue with a view to quickening the resolutions of all issues amicably", the governor said. Gov. Umahi noted that the Governors of Abia and Imo States travelled out of the country.

Buhari has lost touch with Nigeria’s economic realities – Fayose

E kiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s latest comment that he was pleased with Nigeria’s economic situation as another pointer to the fact that the President has lost touch with the economic realities in the country. EFCC recovered N409bn, $69.5m, £23m between January to date – Magu

T he Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says the commission recovered N409bni, $69.5m and E23m between January to date. The Acting Chairman Ibrahim Magu, who made the disclosure while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, said the commission is prosecuting many of its staff that are involved in bribery and other corrupt practices.

The leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has held a closed door meeting with the South-East governors at the Enugu government house. This was disclosed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of the South East Governor’s Forum, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, Emmanuel Uzor. With guilty plea, billionaire kidnapper, Evans, faces life imprisonment

T here was a graveyard silence in the crowded courtroom after suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, pleaded guilty to the first of the two counts of conspiracy and kidnapping brought against him. The Lagos State government Wednesday arraigned Evans alongside Uche Amadi, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi, and Victor Aduba on a two count charge of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and kidnapping. According to the government, the suspects had conspired on February 14th at about 7.45pm at Ilupeju, Lagos, to kidnap one Donatus Dunu and collect €223,000 for his release. After he pleaded guilty when the first charge was read, there was a slight pause, and then the judge ordered the court registrar to repeat the question. Evans repeated the same answer. ASUU Strike: Osinbajo to lead govt negotiation with lecturers

T he Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, will lead the government negotiation with striking university lecturers, an official has said. The lecturer‎s, ASUU, have been on strike for about two weeks demanding implementation of previous agreements, full payment of salaries and improved government funding of universities. PREMIUM TIMES reported how a scheduled meeting betw‎een the lecturers and the government could not hold on Tuesday as ASUU said there was no reason for it. The Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige, on Wednesday after the Federal Executive Council meeting, confirmed that Mr. Osinbajo will now lead the negotiations.

Buhari presides over FEC meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday presided over his first meeting ‎of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, since April. Excluding the over 100 days for which he was out of Nigeria for health treatment, ‎the president had missed five consecutive meetings, two of which were cancelled. At Wednesday’s meeting, ministers offered prayers for the president, who had earlier before commencement of the meeting, met with the Nigerian women basketball team who recently emerged African champions.

Billioanire kidnapper, Evans, pleads guilty to kidnapping charges

B illionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, otherwise known as Evans, has pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and kidnapping. He was arraigned before the Ikeja High Court in Lagos this morning. Evans and five others were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and kidnapping. The judge ordered that all the male defendants be remanded at Kirikiri Maximum Prison while the female defendant, who pleaded not guilty to all the charges, be kept at the Kirikiri Female Prison. The case was adjourned till October 19th.

Anambra election: Biafra group withdraws support for UPP

T he Movement of Biafrans in Nigeria (MOBIN) Tuesday said it has withdrawn its support for the United Progressive Party (UPP) ahead of the forthcoming governorship elections in Anambra. Earlier, MOBIN had a mutual agreement with UPP to be the party’s mobilising agent on the premise that the party would pursue the ideologies of Biafra which it says is based on justice, equity and truth. But the organization said yesterday that it was pulling out of the arrangement, alleging that UPP failed in keeping its own part of the agreement. F acebook user, Nolly Lee, shared a post on his page yesterday about an assistant lecturer of the Ebonyi state University who he claims is currently facing a panel in the school for sexual victimization of female students, bribery, and other illicit acts. Nolly, who is a former student of the school, asked his fellow alumni to state whether or not they want the lecturer to be sacked. Female students of the school came to the comment section to narrate their experiences with him and how he victimized them for not sleeping with them or paying a bribe.
