AREWA YOUTH: We’re Reviewing Igbo Quit Notice, But Kanu Must Be Punished

Yarima Shettima, president of the Arewa Youth Coalition, says the group is reviewing its stand on the quit notice issued to Igbo living in north, but Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) must be punished. In an interview with Tribune, Shettima commended the reaction of the Ohanaeze and other Igbo leaders to the call for secession by IPOB. “The steps taken by the governors are commendable. One, we have since expected the governors to do what they are doing now. Nevertheless, it is better late than never for,” Shettima said. “What the Ohanaeze and other organisations that came out to denounce the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are doing is commendable. “We are also reviewing our own situation. Container falls on two fully loaded commercial buses in Ojota this morning, 3 passengers rescued alive! (photos)

A freak accident happened in Ojota town very early this morning as a container (cargo truck) fell on two fully loaded commercial buses.  As at press time the total number of dead passengers couldn't be ascertained but 3 passengers have been rescued alive with Lagos State Emergency Management Agency officials on ground.

Former President Jonathan's son in-law Godswill Edward reportedly shot in the head by unknown gunmen

Former president Jonathan's son-in-law, Prince Godswill Edward, was attacked by gunmen last night at his home. According to reports, the gunmen stormed his home at the State Housing Estate residence in the Calabar Municipal axis of Cross River State and was shot in the head. Edward who is the Special Adviser to Cross Rivers state governor, Ben Ayade, on Youths matters, is said to be in the hospital where he is receiving medical attention. Edward is married to Jonathan's foster daughter, Patience Sakwe.

He was spotted today in a (Kayak) boat paddling through the flooded streets of Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island. Cars seen on the street are half submerged in water, showing the extent of the flood. It's been raining everyday in Lagos for the past one week and the streets are a mess. Photos shared by residents show that Victoria Island and Lekki are flooded, with Lekki suffering worse damage.

'Evans is safe in our custody' - Police

The Nigeria police force has denied media reports that notorious kidnapper, Evans, has vanished from police cell. Earlier today, The Sun Newspaper published a report alleging that the kidnapper who was arrested on June 10th in Lagos, was no longer in Lagos police custody and his whereabouts was no longer known. Denying the reports, the Force spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood who spoke to newsmen this morning, said; “The media need to avoid stories that could create fear, tension or misrepresentation among the masses. Where did Evans vanish to? That headline was misleading. The suspect and his accomplices are very much in our custody. We are working hard to ensure that justice is served at the end of the day. An unconfirmed reports say most wanted kidnap mastermind, Chukwuduneme Onwuamadike also known as Evans has gone missing. This news has gone viral following a lead story by Nigerian Newspaper, Saturday Sun. According to the report, the acclaimed billionaire kidnapper might have escaped or probably dead. However it is speculated that he has been moved away from detention by heavily armed policemen who took him to an unknown location. While the Police has requested three months to properly investigate the activities of the abductor, he has also filed two seperate suits while also requesting for a N300million compensation. A police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity revealed that he was moved by Police forces but was yet to be returned. “He has not been returned since he was moved out.
