IBB’s Memo: Afegbua Doctored Original Release. See Original Text – Report

N igeria’s online media platform, Aledeh has revealed that statement released by former Military President of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, was doctored by his media aide, Kassim Afebgua. According to the report, Babangida actually released a statement titled “My Counsel To The Nation-By General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, GCFR” which wasn’t addressed to President Buhari but on a wide range of national issues. However, the statement by the ex-president was doctored by Kassim Afegbua , where he added comments that was not with the approval of his principal. “Oga gave the statement alright but Kassim got carried away and added his own…that was the problem…” the report quoted a source as saying. It was after Afegbua released the statement that the ex-president few hours after released a counter statement deny the earlier version released by his aide. Babangida authorised the statement I issued, says spokesman

K assim Afegbua, spokesman of Ibrahim Babaginda, says the former military president authorised the statement he issued earlier on Sunday. Afegbua said this when he appeared on Sunday Politics, a programme on Channels Television. TheCable had earlier reported that Afegbua would be a guest on the television station. “I have been doing this job for about 14 years now. And I have never issued a statement on behalf of the former head of state and he gave a rebuttal. I got authorisation and commitment from him before I issued the statement. It has been in process,” he said. There was a controversy when another statement was released from IBB’s camp. The statement personally signed by the former military ruler said the views in the previous one were those of Afegbua.
