Image
Borno state govt says profiling of the 293 females rescued from Sambisa forest yesterday April 28th shows that they are from Damboa local government and not from Chibok as was highly speculated. Speaking with newsmen in Maiduguri today April 29th, the state Commissioner for Information, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, say the rescued females are from Bumsiri village in Damboa Local government area and were all kidnapped from the village by the sect members. "These girls and women rescued are still our daughters as much as the Chibok girls and we have to commend the military for liberating them, hoping that the rest will equally be liberated. Though everyone had thought they were the Chibok girls because of the hype surrounding the abduction of the girls, but we should not lose sight of the fact that they are as important as the Chibok girls and those that are still in captivity, which we hope would be liberated soon. But at the moment, we are looking up to th

Revealed: Tinubu orders Ekiti 19 APC lawmakers to let Fayose finish his tenure

Image
The leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is believed to have directed members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly to apply the brakes in their desire to get Governor Ayo Fayose impeached ahead of the May 29, handover date. A member of the APC national caucus close to Tinubu told our correspondent that the APC strongman and former governor of Lagos State specifically told some Ekiti APC legislators to allow Governor Fayose to complete his second tenure and should sheathe their swords. It was gathered that Tinubu’s new posture over the Ekiti political drama might not be unconnected with his present dislike for former Governor Kayode Fayemi, who he does not want to be a beneficiary of the impeachment process against Governor Fayose. In this respect, the former Lagos State Governor has refused to finance the court case on behalf of the 19 APC legislators who have not been paid their salaries and allowances since October 2014

Strange case of how 2 un-related men with the same name and identical looks started the use fingerprinting in the US

Image
The man above was called Will West, the man below William West, and they were both sentenced to jail at Leavenworth Penitentiary in Kansas over 100 years ago. The man below is also Will West who arrived at the same prison in 1903. His arrival caused the records clerk at the prison considerable confusion, because he was convinced he’d processed him two years previously. The clerk, M.W. McClaughry, asked Will West if he’d ever been to the prison before. West said he hadn’t. McClaughry then set about taking his Bertillon measurements – named after the French policeman Alphonse Bertillon – which was the usual method of identifying people and involved recording the dimensions of key physical features. McClaughry, still convinced the man before him had already been to the prison, looked up his name in his filing system and found one William West – who looked identical to Will West in the photographs in every respect. They even shared the same Bertil

I never apologised to Bode George – Tinubu

Image
The national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has denied apologising to the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Chief Bode George. George had said during an interview with the Sunday PUNCH that Tinubu was responsible for his imprisonment but had apologised to him at the burial of the Deputy President General of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Arisekola-Alao, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, last year. However, Tinubu in a statement by his media adviser, Mr. Sunday Dare, said he never apologised to George since he had nothing to do with George’s incarceration. He said although they both met at Arisekola-Alao’s burial, their conversation had nothing to do with an apology. He said, “Mr. George claims the alleged apology was made at the burial of Chief Alao-Arisekola. On that date, personalities such as Oba Otudeko and Governor Ajimobi approached me because I did not greet Mr. George

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has recovered a baby boy, David Johnny, who was stolen by a doctor with the connivance of his mother, Esther Johnny, and sold to a woman in Abuja.  It was learnt that the mother initially denied knowledge of the crime as the police intensified efforts to unravel the whereabouts of the baby.
