Emir Sanusi refutes claim of spending N6 billion in three years

The Kano State Emirate Council on Monday debunked claims that the emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has spent N6 billion of the emirate’s fund since he assumed office. At a press conference in Kano, the senior council official in charge of finance, who is also the Walin Kano, Bashir Wali, told reporters that the emirate has only spent N4.314billion since Mr. Sanusi emerged emir in June 2014. Mr. Wali, who provided some details of the expenditure, also explained that Emir Sanusi inherited N1.9 billion (exactly N1.893,378.927.38) and not N4 billion as stated in some media reports. Man who died in Edo state prison was killed by inmates who were allegedly paid by a businessman to torture him

On April 20th, a story went viral of a 38-year-old awaiting trial prisoner Sunday Akubor who was found dead at Oko Prison, Edo State on Tuesday evening, April 18th  According to Chief Executive Officer of Behind Bars Initiative, Prince Gwannishu Harrison who has been following the case, a businessman and importer named Frederick Abogame has been arrested and has confessed to investigators at the State CID Benin that he gave two inmates the the sum of 20k to only "deal" with late Sunday Akubor and not murder him. Frederick who is a businessman had supplied some goods to the deceased sometime last year. The deceased, Akubor, failed to pay the money and the police was called into the case. The deceased promised to pay up the money as he was expecting some funds and he was then forced to write a post-dated check to Frederick. On the day Frederick went to the bank to present the cheque, it bounced as there were no funds in the account. He rushed

'I have no hand in the assassination attempt on Dino Melaye' - Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello says

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has denied claims that he had a hand in the assassination attempt on Senator Dino Melaye. Suspected assassins attacked Melaye's home on April 15th. After the attack, Dino alleged that the state government had a hand in the assassination attempt on his life. He claimed that he was attacked because he was always opposing some of the policies of the governor. Denying Melaye's claim, Governor Bello who spoke through his media aide,Kingsley Fanwo over the weekend, told newsmen that the allegations by Dino were baseless and indefensible. “Senator Melaye and his group should not see Kogi as their fishing point. Their allegation against the governor is reckless, unsustainable, uncharitable and indefensible” he said Yahaya says he would not be distracted by the baseless accusations from Dino and his supporters.
