Armed men attack Monrovia Ebola clinic, 29 patients flee

According to reports, armed men yesterday night attacked an Ebola isolation centre in the densely populated Monrovia suburb of Westpoint, Liberia. 29 patients under quarantine reportedly fled the centre. Some reports say the armed men were residents of the area who looted materials used by quarantine patients. A witness of the attack, Rebecca Wesseh said "They broke down the doors and looted the place. The patients all fled” The Head of Health Workers Association of Liberia, George Williams has confirmed the sad incident. But who goes to steal from sick, quarantined people? Oxford Dictionaries Adds New Words Like, ‘Hot Mess,’ ‘Side Boob,’ ‘Throw Shade’ etc

Oxford's editors have welcomed a new batch of words to their database, validating young people and making life less confusing for old people Oxford Dictionaries, the arm of the Oxford family that focuses on current English, announced on Wednesday that they’ve added the latest batch of words to their ranks. Put into haiku form, reflections of humanity in 2014 could easily look something like this: Hyperconnected hot mess. YOLO? FML. Or this: Side boob. Cray clickbait. Second screen. Live-tweet. Throw shade. ICYMI. Yes, each of those is a new entry in Oxford’s online database that collects modern uses of words. And that’s just a small sample of the many adorbs ( adj. , arousing great delight) additions. SAD "Nano Silver Unfit for Treating Ebola" - Minister of Health

Minister of health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, says Nano silver, the experimental trial drug imported into the country on Thursday, will not be administered to Ebola patients because it did not meet required standards.  The Lagos state government issued a similar denial earlier.  Addressing journalists at the Federal Nuero Psychiatric hospital at Yaba, Lagos on Saturday, Chukwu said other trial drugs were undergoing evaluation, and they could be used should they be found suitable eventually. He assured the public that the government would do everything possible to effectively contain the disease.  “You will recall that last Thursday, I announced that we were ready to deploy an experimental drug, Nano Silver, if it was cleared by the national health research committee,” he said.  “Although, the drug had since last Thursday been made available to the emergency operation in Lagos, it had not been administered to any patient, because we were awaiting clearance from the nat

Saw this pic on the twitter page of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. They said the newly opened ward is designed to care for Ebola Virus Disease positive patients, isolating them from EVD negative patients. They didn't say where in Nigeria it was opened...
