Amaechi Sues Felix Obuah, Rivers PDP Chairman

Rotimi Amaechi, the immediate-past governor of Rivers state, has filed a legal action against Felix Obuah, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. Amaechi is asking the court to compel Obuah and the PDP to pay him N300 million as compensation for defaming his character. The former governor said based on allegations that he defrauded and embezzled $757 million in Rivers, some people now view him as “a common criminal”. “It would be recalled that in a press statement from the PDP, Rivers state chapter on August 6 and August 21, 2015, the party had alleged that Amaechi stole the sum of $757million or N80 billion of Rivers State public funds and stashed them away in an account in his name in Bancorp Bank in Minnesota, United States of America,” read a statement issued by Amaechi’s media office on Tuesday. “Ever since the said invidious, insidious and vitriolic malicious libelous publications by the PDP and Felix Obuah to the general public, he has...

54 Prostitutes Arrested By The Police In A Brothel In Calabar

No fewer than 54 prostitutes alongside 58 men were on today arrested by police during a raid in a popular brothel called ‘Flour mill’ in the Calabar metropolis. The operation which was carried out by detectives from the Cross River State police command, was led by Governor Ben Ayade’s security adviser (SSA), Mr. Jude Ngaji. Briefing newsmen after the operation, Ngaji said the brothel which used to be a hotel has now become a notorious place for commercial sex workers in Calabar. He explained that the brothel poses a security threat in the State, adding that it now serves as a breeding ground for criminal activities. The Nigerian Army has arrested a rogue soldier, who specialised in training Niger Delta militants, during its arms and ammunition mop-up in Kula Community, Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers. Ambode appoints new Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS)

Lagos State Governor - Akinwunmi Ambode has appointed Mr. Olufolarin Ogunsanwo as the new Chairman, Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS). In a statement released on the official website, they wrote that Ogunsanwo’s appointment was confirmed by the Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday, on the request of the Governor. Governor Ambode had earlier approved the appointment of new Directors to the Board of LIRS. The new directors include Mrs. Akintola Bolaji, Moroof Oludare Tijani, Mrs. Arinola Kola-Daisi, Seyi Alade, Mrs. Afolayan Folashade and Ayodele Adebayo with Jimi Aina serving as Board Secretary. The new officers are expected to resume work immediately and work towards implementing the vision of the state government.

Buhari reluctantly approves N70m for Independence celebrations

Apparently disturbed by the dwindling revenues of the country, President Muhammadu Buhari approved only N70million for this year’s Independence celebrations. Addressing journalists on Tuesday, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal who was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, OSGF made this revelation. Two middle-aged women arrested for raping their gym instructor

Two middle-aged women are being held by the Nakuru police for raping their gym instructor after they sedated him during a training session, News24 reports. According to police reports, the two women drugged the male gym instructor before sexually assaulting him inside the training facility on Tuesday morning in Nakuru, Kenya. Nakuru police boss, Bernad Kioko said that police were called by a member of the gym who busted the two women in the act. "We have two women in our custody and they are alleged to have sexually assaulted their gym instructor after they put drugs in his drinking water today morning. We are still investigating before we can decide what action to take next," said Kioko.
