CBN Boss, Emefiele May Resign Over Buhari’s Order To Change Colour Of naira note

Image
The possible resignation of the Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, should not come as a surprise to Nigerians. A source told DAILY POST on Wednesday that the boss of the apex bank was getting tired of the approach of President Muhammadu Buhari to fiscal and monetary issues. “There are possibilities of Emefiele leaving the post because of the state of the economy. But the one that unsettles him the most is an order by the president to change the colour of Naira notes,” our source said. Buhari’s directive is a reminder of his anti-corruption measures as military Head of State between 1984 and 1985. ‘Buharinomics’, as called, was stringently implemented to revive the slumbering banking industry and curb local currency hoarding. Buhari ordered that the colour of the Naira notes be changed, forcing all holders of old notes to exchange them at banks within a limited period. DAILY POST gathered that Emefiele, reluctant to implement Buhari’s

The owner of the truck that fell and killed three people at Ojuelegba area of Lagos State, on September 2, Kilani Ojo Adesanya, alongside the driver of the truck, Wasiu Adeleke, are to spend another 20 days in prison. The extension of their remand resulted from the objection raised by their counsel, Mr. W. O. Toriola, who vehemently opposed that their plea be taken in a consolidated charge against the duo. At the resumed hearing of the matter yesterday, the prosecutor, Inspector Chinalu Uwadione, informed the court of an application by the police to substitute the charges against each of the defendants. But their counsel, Toriola objected, saying that the business of the day was for the court to rule on their bail application. Toriola also informed the court that the police cannot apply for the substitution of the charges rather such can only be consolidated. He therefore prayed the court for an adjournment, to enable him file a formal application in

Naira drops by N2 against Dollar

Image
The Naira, yesterday, depreciated slightly against the Dollar at the parallel market, dropping by N2. The currency traded N222, N350 and N256 against the Dollar, Pounds and Euro, respectively. On Monday and Tuesday, it traded at N220, N345 and N252 against the Dollar, Pounds and Euro respectively. However, the official interbank rate remained at N197 to the Dollar. Mr. Harrison Owoh, a bureau de change operator, said in Lagos that the Naira’s drop in value was connected to Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN’s failure to sell enough foreign currencies. Explained: How Buhari Miraculously Improved The Power In Nigeria Overnight - Brimah

Image
Article written by Peregrino Brimah of ENDs.ng  Many have been puzzled and piqued over this question. How did the new Buhari/Osinbajo government suddenly and rather drastically improve the power situation in Nigeria literally overnight? Apart from Asari-Dokubo and the people of Borno, most Nigerians have celebrated stretches of uninterrupted power like never before. My niece and nephew were overheard arguing on if it had been a full 24 hours of uninterrupted light. One said it was, the other said it was over 20 hours but not 24. In the past they barely had 20 hours of light per week. It's been so across Nigeria, an unexplained miracle of the new "change" government. Some die-hard Jonathanians have claimed the glory, "Jonathan did it," they say, "after all has Buhari repaired any power plant?" Some have even accused Buhari and Osinbajo of sabotage, claiming they kept the power down for the 16 years of PDP to pave way for their 2015 election vi

Code of Conduct Trial: Ex minister tells Saraki to resign now

Image
Former minister of state for Education, Kenneth Gbagi, has asked Senate President Bukola Saraki to resign as Senate president following his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal. Speaking to journalists in Abuja yesterday September 23rd, Gbagi said;  "We have a problem in Nigeria where we don’t have people of honor, dignity and integrity. The mere fact that the senate president has lied by doing anticipatory declaration indicates that he has no business being a senate president living with tax payers money. Nigerians will not have faith in anything that comes out of his senate that is shared or presented by that kind of person. The entire international community will not believe in the passage of any Bill under his leadership. He (Saraki) cannot be seen to sit in that house now as senate president because whatever he does questions the integrity of the entire senate"he said However while reacting to Gbagi's call for Saraki's resignation, the special a

Lol. She claims she was constantly belittled and humiliated between 2007 and 2009. After a scare over their baby's movement last week. When they got home, John says:   "We never noticed anything until we got home and looked at the scan picture, as we were more concerned everything was OK with baby." As the couple looked at the image in more detail, they noticed an adult face in the scan picture. John freely admitted his astonishment, he said: "You can clearly see the face of a young man in the scan picture, we can not explain this - and are spooked by it!" John says the face bears no resemblance to anyone on either side of their families, but that it has made him wonder about other spiritual occurrences out there. Their son is due in early November and the excited parents have chosen the name 'Ruairidh' for him, meaning 'red-haired king.'
