A police officer, Danladi, in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State has been killed by a herdsman identified as Babuga Kuaara. According to the Kebbi State Police Command, the slain officer was attached to the Kaoje Police division in the local government area. A farmer had reported Kuaara to the Police after cows belonging to the herdsman allegedly destroyed his farm. A witness who pleaded anonymity told journalists that the late officer was asked to arrest the herder who was still wandering with his cattle within the area, but he got killed in the process. “The police officer who came with his riffle, arrested the suspect, but as he was taking him to the waiting patrol vehicle, the herder drew his machete and stabbed the officer on his neck,” the witness said. “We saw the officer groaning in pains and bleeding but he died before we could apply first aid. Aliko Dangote, Africa's richest man, has in his interview with David Piling of Financial times; made the startling revelation that at 61, he is willing to take on a new wife. Twice divorced with three grown up daughters, the billionaire told Financial times that he is not getting any younger and is in the lookout for a new better-half.  "I am not getting younger and sixty years is no joke" he says, but it doesn't make sense to go out and get somebody if you don't have the time. Right now, things are very busy because we have refinery, petrochemicals, fertiliser and gas pipeline".

Chris Brown   hopped off the stage and into a police cruiser after cops arrested him following a concert in Florida. Brown had a show at the Coral Sky Ampitheatre in West Palm Beach Thursday where several officers were waiting in the wings -- and when Chris wrapped -- he was arrested. Law enforcement sources tell us Brown was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of a nearby county. It's currently unclear what the warrant was for. Brown's been on the road since early last month and was keeping a low profile. He  recently celebrated  his daughter  Royalty 's 4th birthday with baby mama  Nia Guzman .

T he national leadership of the All Progressives Congress has asked a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff, who has expressed his desire to join the ruling party in Abuja, to do so at his ward. Sheriff was scheduled to storm the national headquarters of the party in Abuja by noon on Thursday with his supporters, where he would have declared for the party. He was billed to be received by the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and other members of the party’s National Working Committee. However, our correspondent observed that none of the national officers of the party was on ground to receive the former governor of Borno State. T he Senate on Thursday re-summoned the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to appear before the senate plenary on Wednesday. Mr Idris was on Wednesday summoned by the Senate to answer questions on the arrest of Dino Melaye and the recent insecurity in the country, but he snubbed the lawmaker on Thursday. The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Wednesday said the summon was necessary as he had not been able to reach Mr Idris for some days. The chairman, senate committee on police affairs, Abu Ibrahim, informed the senate that the IGP was in Bauchi and could not honour the invitation of the senate. He said the Deputy Inspector- General (DIG) Operations was sent to represent him. V ice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday commissioned the new headquarters church of the Deeper Life Bible Church in Lagos amidst colourful celebration.  The general superintendent of the church, Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi and his wife, Sister Esther received the vice president who was a special guest at the commissioning ceremony of the magnificent Gbagada Church.  The Deeper Life Bible Church is said to be the single largest church in Africa, with branches across the country, Africa and other continents of the world.

J imoh Moshood, spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force, led at least 30 armed policemen to Zankili Medical Center, Mabushi, Abuja, where Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west, is being treated. Melaye was admitted into the hospital after he attempted to escape from police custody. There was tension in the hospital as the policemen arrested two persons — a man and a woman — said to be members of staff for unknown offence. The policemen summoned the official of the hospital and demanded to know where Melaye was. It is not yet clear if they have located the place the senator is at the moment. Anyone seen walking around is asked to identify themselves by the fierce-looking policemen or risk getting g picked up. T he World Bank, through the FADAMA III Additional Financing (AFII) Programme, will soon disburse N8.6 billion to 5,916 youth across the country in the Graduate Unemployment Youths Support Scheme (FADAMA GUYS). Kwaji Daguru, the Chairman of FADAMA GUYS Implementation Committee, disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Tuesday. Mr Daguru, who is also Procurement Specialist for FADAMA III (AFII) Programme, said that the programme targeted 5,916 youth in 23 states to improve the country’s agricultural production. The states are Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Niger, Ogun and Ondo States. Others include Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba and Zamfara states as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). N gozi Okonjo-Iweala, former minister of finance, says there was a plan to confine her to a wheel chair and force her out of office during the time she served under ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
