New video of dozens of abducted Chibok school girls has been released by Boko Haram. The girls, numbering about 130, said to be held at Sambisa forest, a border between Cameroon and Nigeria, are seen praying in Arabic in the video. In the video, Boko Haram leader said he's ready to do a deal to free some or all the girls. He said; "The girls you occupy yourselves with, we have liberated them...they are now Muslims. We will never release them unless our brethren are released. It's been 4/5 years you held our brethren and torturing them..and now you talk about these girls. 33 Year Old Oyoma Edewor Allegedly Killed In Festac By The Police

Image
Friends of late Oyoma Edewor (pictured above) reached out to me to put the info out there that he was allegedly shot dead by a police sergeant attached to the Festac Command at the 3rd Gate check point in Festac, Lagos, on Saturday night May 10th.  According to the story, 33 year old Oyoma, who was  a Building Finishing Contractor, had a slight accident somewhere around Lekki, and instead of leaving  the car there  to obstruct traffic, he decided to get a towing van to take it to Festac where he lives.  When police sighted the van towing Oyoma's SUV at the second junction, they asked them to stop, but for reasons best known to him, the driver of the towing van refused to stop.  Oyoma  who was in the car being towed was helpless as he could not have controlled the driver of the truck.  The police then chased the vehicles to the next gate, 3rd Gate, where they dragged Oyoma out of his SUV and ordered him to seat on the ground. According to his fri...

I’m Afraid Of Returning To School - Chibok School Girl Who Escaped From Boko Haram

Image
ABUJA—ONE of the girls who escaped from the terrorists’ camp has expressed fears of returning to school, describing the kidnapping as “too terrifying for words.” Science student Sarah Lawan, 19, told The Associated Press that more of the girls could have escaped but that they were frightened by their captors’ threats to shoot them. Lawan spoke in Hausa language in a phone interview from Chibok, her home. She said: “I am pained that my other colleagues could not summon the courage to run away with me. Now I cry each time I come across their parents and see how they weep when they see me.”   Lawan said other girls, who escaped later have told her that the abductors spoke of their plans to marry them. She said the thought of going back to school terrifies her — neither the burnt out ruins of Chibok Government Girls Secondary School nor any other school.   “I am really scared to go back there; but I have no option if I am asked to go because I need to finish my final y...

Family Accuses Yam Seller Of Killing Bricklayer

Image
A yam seller at Itam Market, Itu Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, identified simply as Sunny, has been accused of killing an 18-year-old bricklayer, Ekemini Etim. Sunny, an indigene of Ebonyi State, was said to have invited Ekemini to his uncompleted building to collect N3,500 that he (Sunny) owed him. The sum was said to be the payment for the blocks Ekemini earlier moulded for the yam seller. A cousin to Ekemini, Mr. Donald Efanga, told PUNCH Metro that Ekemini left a few minutes later to collect the money, but did not return home. He said they had thought he went somewhere else. Efanga said, “Later in the evening, Sunny came to a drinking parlour that we own and asked after Ekemini, saying that the deceased left his site about five minutes after collecting the money.” According to the cousin, on Tuesday morning around 8am, Sunny came again to the drinking parlour and asked them if they had seen Ekemini. “We still told him that we had yet to see him. But we wer...

Abducted Girls: Britain May Send Soldiers If.....

Image
The United Kingdom  hinted  on Sunday   that it  could   send troops to Nigeria  if requested by President Goodluck Jonathan as part of efforts to rescue the over 200 female pupils abducted by Boko Haram insurgents from their school hostel in Chibok, Borno State on April 14. Prime Minister David Cameron made this known just as Pope Francis prayed for the safe rescue of the girls. Cameron, who has also joined the  growing list of   global  personalities that have  enlisted  in the  ‘‘Bring Back Our Girls,’’ social media campaign,  said  while featuring on the British Broadcasting Corporation’s  Andrew Marr show,  that  Britain “will do what we can” to help find the  female pupils.” Fellow guest and Cable News Network Chief International Correspondent, Christiane Amanpour, had handed the Prime Minister   the sign and asked if he would like to join the campaign. Taking it from her, he r...
