“I’m not a machine, I am a man” – Yaya Toure fires back at critics

Image
Yaya Toure has told his critics that he is just a man, not a machine, after he scored a fine solo goal in Manchester City’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday. The Ivorian midfielder has become the subject of constant bashing, after a string of poor displays. Yaya Toure admits that he will always be on the radar playing for a big club, but insisted he was doing his best. “For me, I’m keeping going. I’ve been playing for top sides in Europe and I knew about this criticism. I just do my best and try to help the team win again,” he told Sky Sports. “It’s not so easy because you have to play every three days and people have to understand I’m not a machine; I am a man. But I have to keep going because all my team-mates keeps going around me.” City were held 1-1 by Roma in their midweek Champions League group match and Yaya Toure has said it was great to bounce back from the disappointing draw with a win in the league. He added: “I think today was a great win because ...

“Fabregas move to Chelsea was decided in 10 minutes” – Mourinho

Image
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, has claimed that the deal that saw Cesc Fabregas leave Barcelona for Stamford Bridge, was agreed in 10 minutes. Mourinho had to cancel a trip to Germany to watch his son play, so he could meet with Fabregas in London. The Portuguese moved swiftly to speak with the midfielder, after it became clear he was leaving the Nou Camp and Arsenal were not ready to activate their buy-back clause. “He obviously knew that I was the Chelsea manager so if he doesn’t want to come to Chelsea, I think he refuses to meet with me and when I invite him for the meeting, he told me immediately ‘Yes,’ so that’s one point,” Mourinho said. “I spoke with him and, after 10 minutes, he was telling me he wants to join us. “Yes, it was one of my easiest signings. He was really happy to join us and after that, my club was so fast and so strong in doing things, which I was not expecting, really. Normally, these things take more time. My club was fantastic.” Mourinho...

FEAR OF EBOLA: Akon performs in giant bubble to avoid Ebola

Image
Akon in anti-Ebola bubble In an effort to guard against contracting the Ebola Virus Disease, a United States-based R&B star, Akon, last Sunday climbed inside an airtight blow-up during a performance in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo. The singer rolled over the crowd, pushed along by the outstretched hands of 60,000 screaming concert-goers while performing at a concert. The performance was part of a larger free concert held by charity, ‘Peace One Day,’ to help promote and support the United Nations’ International Day Of Peace. Akon was, however, accused of going to extreme lengths to avoid catching Ebola during a concert in Africa by crowd-surfing inside a giant plastic bubble. His action was criticised by a section of the media outlets, describing it as a cynical attempt to shield himself from the deadly virus that is sweeping West Africa rather than just being a creative way of performing closer to his fans. The Source, on its website, however, said,...

Confusion over Beheading: ‘How air force pilot was captured, killed

Image
There was confusion, yesterday, over the alleged beheading, by Boko Haram, of an air force pilot whose fighter jet went missing three weeks ago. The military dismissed the claim that a man beheaded in Boko Haram’s latest video was the pilot. A group which identified as Nigerian Army Support Group, however, confirmed the death of the pilot – a wing commander in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) – who was named as Chimda Hedima. Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, had claimed in the footage obtained by AP on Thursday that militants shot down the Alpha jet and showed wreckage of an aircraft which included the Nigerian Air Force’s green and white roundel. A man, wearing a camouflage print T-shirt and with a heavily bandaged hand in a sling, was seen later kneeling in front of an unmasked Boko Haram fighter in combat fatigues and saying in English that he was one of the pilots. He appears to give his name, rank and date of birth but the video is inaudible. He is killed after h...

Blonde Tattooed Texas Girl Overwhelmed By Marriage Proposals From ISIS Fighters In Iraq

Image
A tattooed, blonde woman who grew up a Christian in Texas has been overwhelmed by marriage proposals from ISIS fighters in Iraq and Syria after one of her social media posts went viral. Jennifer Williams, a foreign policy researcher, caught the attention of thousands by joining a Twitter trend pointing out the difference between mainstream Islam and the jihadists bringing war and devastation to the Middle East. But she was shocked to find ISIS jihadists appreciating her message - in which revealed herself as an unlikely convert to Islam. The fighters, presumably besotted by her bright blue eyes and platinum blonde hair, were so taken with her that they started to send marriage proposals. Miss Williams was brought up a Baptist in Texas, uses Southern slang such as 'y'all' - and admits nobody would guess she was a Muslim at first sight. She now works for the Brookings Institution in Washington D.C. The message which captured the attention - and heart...
