Relations of late Segun Ogunlola, the man who held his wife, Patience and children captive for seven years have revealed details on his life prior to his disappearance. The fresh facts that emerged paint a picture of a man who was deeply troubled and had over time developed psychological problems that ultimately impacted on his relationship with his immediate and extended family as well as the general society. Until his demise, he lived in isolation in Abaranje, Ikotun/Igando Local Council Development Area, Lagos, with his wife and their four children in a corrugated zinc shack built on a portion of swampy land that he acquired. Almost 19 months after, residents of the Mortgage Area of Gusau, capital of Zamfara State, still shudder at the memory of the callousness of Kamalu, who hired assassins to murder his mother, Hajia Aisha and his younger sisters, aged nine and 11. The bodies of the victims were dumped in the Bager dam, located off the Gusau-Dansadau Road in the state capital. Although Kamalu was eventually tracked down by the police, arrested and is now standing trial, his accomplices are still at large and fugitives from justice. That is why the residents are grieved and baying for justice to be served Kamalu for the heinous crime allegedly masterminded by him. As  Sunday Sun   gathered, the day infamy happened a day before May 29, 2013. While other patriotic citizens were preparing to mark Democracy Day, generally rejoicing and thanking God for the survival of the current dispensation of civil rule, Kamalu and his cohort were also perfecting plans on how to commit the tripl...

I miss Kefee so much....I've lost a lot of weight - Teddy Momoh

Image
Seven months after Kefee's sudden death, her husband Teddy Momoh is still finding it hard..He told Encomium  It has not been easy for me. It’s been by the special grace of God and His grace has been sufficient for me..I miss everything that she epitomized, her smiles, the way she lightened up the environment and everyone around her, her food and so many other things. I have lost a lot of weight since she passed away because there is no one to cook or call to find out what I would like to eat.  She went the extra mile of cooking breakfast, she packs what I would have for lunch in the office. She would still give me a call to remind me that I have to eat lunch. She turned me from ‘eating out’ to ‘eating at home’ and I find it difficult to eat out now. I miss that love, the union and her brainstorming. I just miss everything she stood for.We had a lot of fun memories together and I would not want to share them with the world. It is very personal an...

Boko Haram had failed-Buhari condemns terrorist attacks

Image
APC presidential flag bearer Buhari has said Boko Haram will not prevail..In a statement released last night, he said..  “I condemn, unreservedly and with every strength in me, the recent terrorist attacks in Kano and Jos, the two historic cities that are known for their rich cultural and religious heritage. “Once again, those who seek to influence our way of life, modify our faith and our most sacred core values, have struck, leaving in their wake lives brutally cut short, limbs badly broken and dreams forced to fade away. “But these people, whose actions are not sanctioned by any religion and who subscribe to no known decent values, will not succeed. Our people are resilient and strong, and our nation is capable, based on our rich human and material resources, of successfully tackling these nihilists. “We will together see the end of them and their reign of terror.  They have failed because Nigeria will remain strong and united in th...

SSG, three others tipped as Ambode’s deputy

Image
The Lagos State leadership of the All Progressives Congress has begun searching for the running mate of its governorship candidate, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode. Our correspondent learnt that four people were being tipped for the deputy governor position. It was learnt that because Ambode is a Christian, the party has insisted that the deputy must be a Muslim. The four persons are the Imam of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Abdulateef Abdulhakeem; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Ganiyu Johnson; the current Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Idayat Adebule; and a former chairman of the Lagos Island Local Government, Wasiu Eshilokun. A source within the party said Adebule was the most likely candidate because of her gender and high level of education. He said, “We would have picked the Imam of the House of Assembly but some Muslim groups in the state resisted the move, so we decided to go for Adebule. “Adebule ha...
