Mushin Violence: Serial Killer, Others Arrested By The Police
Toba and Muda |
The command also arrested two others, including the alleged gang leader in the Fadeyi area of the state, Toba Ajiboye.
PUNCH Metro had reported that Muda was arrested last year for murder and was charged to court and remanded, but was later released.
After his release, Muda was said to have gone after those who wrote statements against him at the police station and was said to be involved in about four more murders, including that of a pregnant woman and her three-year-old child in the Akala area of Mushin.
Our correspondent learnt that after the Mushin violence of Sunday, in which houses were robbed, while 30 vehicles were destroyed on eight streets, the Area D Command and Mushin Police Station arrested the suspects.
Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, had said the Sunday violence was as a result of a supremacy battle between two groups.
Manko said during a press conference on Wednesday that the police would ensure that the culprits were brought to book.
At the time of filing this report, it was learnt that the suspects were at the state Command headquarters, Ikeja, writing their statements.
Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, who confirmed the arrests, described Muda as a serial killer who had been on the police radar for a long time.
Braide said the suspects were arrested while they were planning to carry out another robbery operation at Karimu Street, Mushin.
She said, “We have arrested Muda and two others. Muda has been on the police watch list for a long time, he is a serial killer. The others arrested are Toba Ajiboye and Yusuf Akinwale. They were all arrested around 3.30pm at Karimu Street, Mushin, where they were having another meeting with other members on how to carry out another attack.”
“Now that we have arrested them, it is expected that investigations will continue.”
