The main suspect in American journalist James Foley’s beheading is 23-year-old British-born rapper Abdel Majed Abdel Bary According to intelligence experts, Abdel Bary joined ISIS in 2013. Prior to joining ISIS, Bary was an up-and-coming artist in the United Kingdom’s hip hop scene.
The trouble started when Bary began to mingle with supporters of radical Islamic Preacher Anjem Choudary, who was imprisoned for three-and-a-half years for trying to incite terrorism, that Bary started showing a more violent side and talking more radically.
Bary posted a series of photographs online, including shots of him masked and posing with guns under the title ‘soldier of Allah’. In other messages he called on Allah to ‘grant us martyrdom’, and praised Osama Bin Laden.

Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, 23, walked out of his family’s £1million home in Maida Vale, west London, last year to join militant groups, telling them he was ‘leaving everything for the sake of Allah’
Adding to Bary’s drive was his father being extradited to the United States from the U.K., and is currently awaiting trial on terrorism charges in connection with former head of Al Qaeda Osama Bin Laden and the 1998 U.S. Embassy bombings in Africa. One of Bary’s songs talks about his anger due to his father’s extradition.

In his most recent video clip, posted to YouTube in March this year, he talked of his anger at his father’s 1998 arrest.
“Give me the pride and the honor like my father, I swear the day they came and took my dad, I could have killed a cop or two,” he rapped. “Imagine then I was only six, picture what I’d do now with a loaded stick. Like boom bang fine, I’m wishing you were dead, violate my brothers and I’m filling you with lead.”
Bary tweeted a picture of himself holding a severed head with the caption, “Chillin’ with my homie or what’s left of him.” As intelligence officials estimate that up to 500 British citizens have gone to Syria to wage jihad as well some Americans, the ISIS threat goes from regional to international. Twitter has since banned all ISIS accounts.
