South African Woman 'Arrested' In Lagos Airport Over EBOLA related issues
The female South African is said to have spent some time in disease-ridden Sierra Leone before coming to Lagos
According to reports, a South African woman has been arrested in a Lagos airport after showing symptoms of Ebola.
The “suspect” was said to have arrived Nigeria from Morocco after working in Guinea and Sierra Leone.
The woman was in transit to her country but she has now been taken to an Ebola treatment center in Lagos to be tested for the disease, The Sun reports.
Fears were said to have been sparked when the woman filled out a health questionnaire on her arrival in Lagos and acknowledged that she was suffering from diarrhea and vomiting, both possible symptoms of the Ebola hemorrhagic virus.
The Director of Port Health Services at the Lagos airport, Dr. Morenike Alex-Okoh said:
“This person has been in Guinea and Sierra Leone since April … she has symptoms,”
Ebola was imported into Nigeria in July after an infected Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer, flew into the country with the disease.
