HND discrimination bill narrowly scales second reading in Senate

Image
The Bill for an Act to Abolish and Prohibit Dichotomy and Discrimination between First Degrees and Higher National Diploma in the same Profession/Field and related matters on Wednesday scaled second reading in the Senate. The bill, which scaled second reading after heated debate at plenary on its relevance, seeks to resolve controversy over wage disparity and gross discrimination against HND holder in public and private sectors of the economy. The Senate President, David Mark, in his remarks, said it would be difficult to legislate on the bill, given that polytechnics were not originally established to be degree awarding institutions. He said rather than canvass for abolition of the dichotomy, polytechnics should be changed to degree awarding institutions. “The problem here is whether we can legislate on this. I think obviously that is not going to work for several reasons that we have all advanced here. “We can’t legislate here and say you must employ an HND instea...

The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that an experimental Ebola vaccine could be in use by January. Assistant Director of the WHO, Dr. Marie Paule Kieny said in Geneva on Tuesday, October 21 that trials of the vaccine were ongoing and if deemed safe, a West African trial could then be conducted in January. Tens of thousands of doses of the vaccine would reportedly be made available for the trials but it is not clear when the said vaccine would be mass produced so as to be widely available. There is currently no cure or vaccine for the disease but experimental drugs and the blood of survivors has been used to treat the infected. The current Ebola outbreak has killed almost 5000 people mostly in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

Female Student caught with her Sister's Husband

Image
The way some girls act these days without considering the consequences of their action is a big cause for concern to enlightened minds. Her elder sister was nursing a baby and she thought the best way to help out is to be servicing the woman's husband. The source who sent the photo  said it was the girl that suggested the illicit act to her sister's husband and the 'weak' man obliged. The sister got information that her husband was always taking a young girl to a small hotel in Lagos and she stormed the place, only to catch her own sister in the act with her husband. See full pics: Funny enough, the girl claimed that she was helping her sister so her husband wont go outside. Lol

In what is being recorded as the first time ever in Gulder Ultimate Search history, a contestant yesterday appealed to the Council of Elders for a second chance after his eviction announcement was made. The evicted contestant, Ikenna Emedike, fondly known as Ikenna E the doctor, made the appeal after the reality show’s anchor, Chidi Mokeme said he has been ‘Evicted’. It would be recalled that Ikenna bore the ‘Stump of Shame’ recently, which ultimately made him ‘deaf and dumb’ for a day following his disobedience of the instruction of the Council of Elders. The punishment was meted out to Ikenna for having ‘Stood on Stump’ after sleeping in a luxury room alongside three other contestants as well as his inability to complete the Octagon Chart task. The Octagon Chart task involved contestants arranging three pieces of a hexagon to form the word, ‘AXE’. Shortly after eight contestants had completed their tasks, Ikenna finished...
