Anambra Election: Ngige weeps for Nigeria, alleges predetermined election
Hours
before the final results of the just concluded governorship election in
Anambra State was announced on Sunday, candidate of the All Progressive
Congress, Senator Chris Ngige, said he was weeping for Nigeria over the
alleged inability of the Independent National Electoral Commission to
conduct credible polls.
He said the result was predetermined as
a result of the series of warning of recurring irregularities that was
ignored by the commission, adding that if the election was not cancelled
his only option would be to seek redress at the tribunal.
This came just as the Peoples
Democratic Party candidate, Mr. Tony Nwoye, lent credence to Ngige’s
position when he also called for the total cancellation of the election
following series of irregularities that marred the exercise.
Ngige also said his party did not
participate in the rerun that was rescheduled for Sunday in 65 polling
units in Idemili North Local Government Area.
