Rochas Okorocha Set To Dump APC

The romance between Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and the mainstream opposition party, All Progressives Congress (APC), appears to have gone sour as indications have emerged that he may soon dump the party.

New Telegraph authoritatively gathered that Okorocha was contemplating several options, including pitching his tent with the Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA) or returning to the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) his former party.
He is also said to be considering joining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the event that the first two options fail. It was learnt that Okorocha became disenchanted with APC following the poor acceptance of the party in Imo State and the South-East region.
The party encountered a major electoral misfortune during the last governorship election in Anambra State. Okorocha dumped APGA in the wake of the merger of several opposition political parties to form APC last year. As at the time he dumped APGA, the party on whose platform he was elected governor in 2011, there were speculations that Okorocha was being groomed to pick the vice presidential ticket of the APC and become its arrow head in the South-East.
Okorocha, it was learnt, became disillusioned when he found out that APC was not also prepared to offer him the platform to actualise his vice presidential ambition. In shopping for a new platform, it was learnt that Okorocha might find it difficult going back to APGA given the

unceremonious manner he left the party after his failed attempt to drag APGA into the APC merger project. It is also unlikely that he will secure a place in the PDP because feelers showed that some hawks within the party in Imo State were not favourably disposed to having him in the ruling party.
Okorocha, according to our source, may probably end up with PPA, a party that is so far considered less controversial and neutral in the build up to the 2015 presidential election.
