Gov Obiano Of Anambara State Set To Dump APGA To Join PPA?
Obiano, Umeh about to join PPA, as
Obiano's political adviser Onyeka Mbaso
was seen in Igbere the home of ex gov Orji
Kalu yesterday holding a secret talk to
perfect their decamping.
Barely 48hours that Chief Maxi Okwu
formally took over the APGA National
secretariat after chief Umeh's stay of
execution was struck out by the Federal
High Court Abuja which compounded
Umeh's woes in his battle to retain his
position as the chairman of APGA, the duo
of Umeh and Obiano are set to join PPA.
Chief Umeh's lost of grip on APGA started
when a federal high court Abuja on
January 15, 2014 removed him and
reinstated chief Okwu as APGA National
Chairman. Umeh who immediately
appealed the judgement got another
shocker when the Presidency in a letter
through the SGF office informed Chief
Okwu to submit the names of APGA
delegates to the CONFAB. While Umeh
wrote petitions in an attempt to stop the
nominees of chief Okwu from
representing APGA in the Confab which
prompted the FG to suspend the
inauguration of the party's delegates
pending the resolution of the Leadership
crisis in the party, the Attorney of General
of the federation in another letter advised
the presidency to deal with Chief Okwu as
the authentic National chairman of APGA.
Events in the party so far shows that Chief
Umeh is gradually losing the battle and this
may have prompted him to seek alternative
platform.
The secret visit of Mr Onyeka Mbaso, the
political adviser to Obiano and an in-law to
Chief Umeh has confirmed the rumour
making round that Obiano and Umeh are
set to decamp to PPA.
Our source gathered that their attempt to
join PDP was frustrated by money bags in
Anambra PDP. It was the same PDP bigwigs
in Anambra state that stopped ex gov Obi's
ministerial ambition.
Our source stated that chief Umeh wants
to be made the national chairman of PPA.
Our source also revealed that the meeting
between Obiano's political adviser and Orji
Kalu will continue next week to resolve all
grey areas.
In all these permutations, ex gov Obi has
not made up his mind whether to decamp
with Umeh and Obiano to PPA or make
peace with Chief Okwu as his plans to
remain a PDP ally since after handing over
power on March 17, has been resisted by
Anambra state PDP stakeholders.
