Men and officers of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police yesterday uncovered an underground cell suspected to be ritualists’ den in Iyana Egbado village in Ewekoro local government area of the state.

A middle aged man who identified himself as Gbenga who was in possession of severed human parts was also arrested by the police in connection with the suspected ritualists den.
It was gathered from the scene of the incident which is located under a bridge few meters away from the main gate of a popular cement company along the Abeokuta -Lagos expressway that the suspect had attempted to kill a woman before she was rescued by a passer-by.
The man who rescued the woman became suspicious of the cellophane bag the suspect was holding and forcefully tore it only to discover that the contents were severed human parts already sliced into pieces. It was further gathered that the Good – Samaritan immediately raised alarm which attracted crowd from the nearby cement factory as well as the Egbado village who immediately mobbed the suspect in an attempt to kill him.
The suspect, Gbenga, known to be lunatic and had lived in the area for the past nine months pleaded with the crowd not to kill him but promised that he was going to confess. An eye witness who identified himself as Samuel Oladele told newsmen that the suspect, Gbenga thereafter, brought out a mobile phone withwhich he puts call across to some people.
Oladele explained that the suspect confessed that he belonged to a five -man syndicates among them a woman who operated in the Ewekoro axis since the past nine months. It was further gathered that police officers suspected to be from Itori Police Station arrived the scene of the incident and thereafter whisked the suspect away to an unknown destination.
Our correspondent who was at the scene of the incident noticed human parts sliced into pieces, plastic containers filled with human blood, ladies pants, braziers, ladies and men shoes and blood stained dresses. Other items discovered at the scene included knives, various non – functioning electronics parts, assorted soft drinks suggesting that the suspect and other ritualists were indeed living under the bride.

Our correpondent gathered that the suspect, who claimed that he hails from Ado Ekiti in Ekiti state was whisked away by the police to Ifo Divisional Headquarters to prevent him from being lynched by the mob.

All attempt by newsmen to see the suspect at the Ifo Divisional Police headquarters where he was detained proved abortive as the police turned down all entreaties by newsmen to enable them gain access to Gbenga.
