Group Promoting Re-emergence Of Biafra Arrested In Enugu
Three people, including a police officer, have been killed in Enugu, southeast Nigeria, after a group promoting the re-emergence of Biafra attempted to take over a broadcast station in the state capital.
It was gathered that the group known as Biafra Zionists Federation, attempted to gain access to the Enugu State Broadcasting Service in the early hours of Thursday, with the aim of seizing the station for a broadcast by its leader, Benjamin Onwuka. The group members were said to be armed with dangerous weapons.
Two members of the group were reportedly killed by security men as they fled the scene, while the leader of the group was reportedly arrested, alongside some of his members.
They were arrested by the police and paraded before the media at the police headquarters in Enugu.
It is not yet clear what message the group had intended to broadcast.
