Borno: Boko Haram attacks Shaffa town; kills 21, burns Churches
Shaffa town in Hawul local government area of Borno state has come under attack by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram about 48 hours after security operative raided the town and arrested seven suspected members of the sect, who were said to be indigenes of the area.
According to reports from the area, the attack on Shaffa town was led by some of the youths in the village who joined the Islamic sect, Boko Haram and vow to eliminate Christianity in the Christian dominated town of Shaffa.
DailyPost also gathered that, all churches in the town of Shaffa were burnt down by the insurgents as well as houses belonging to prominent sons and daughters of the area who are of Christian faith.
“They started attacking Shindiffu village before coming down to Shaffa. When they came, they were chanting “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar” meaning God is great, and some of our people who are of the same faith with them came out chanting as well, while some of us took to our heels.
” We ran into the mountains to hide until the morning when we managed to find our way to Yimirshika village where we are now taking refuge. We were told that, some of the Muslims in the town were showing Christians homes to the insurgents who were setting them ablaze. As I am speaking to you, no church is standing in Shaffa and all houses belonging to people like Madu Wudiri, Engr. Mike Bata, Inspector Yautiya, Mallam James Mshelia and the rest of them have all been destroyed.
